Looked at the rare 2024 I saw on interstate and no CHMSL camera in sight. Would expect that to be standard equipment for a selling point.

It's disappointing that an option on my MY21 XLT is moved to Platinum-only for MY24. I want it on my MY24 Lariat order, but cannot get it.Looked at the rare 2024 I saw on interstate and no CHMSL camera in sight. Would expect that to be standard equipment for a selling point.
Any update on this? I am wanting to add a CHMSL Camera to my 24 LARIAT. It has 360 Cameras, but I just looked behind the 3rd Brake Light and I don't see the 12 pin harness to add the CHMSL Cam. I am going to look under the headliner to see if was stuffed in there like Ford did with previous years.I don't have an answer yet, but I did order a 2024 F150 Lariat that includes the DIO Individual Trailer TPMS/Customer-Placed Trailer Camera. Per both the Ford sales consultant and her rep, the truck will come with the CHMSL / Bed Cam. I'm skeptical but I have my fingers crossed. So far, I'm 2 weeks into a 4-6 month wait, and the build hasn't been scheduled yet, so I still have a long wait.
Assuming the truck arrives without the CHMSL camera, has anyone added it to a 2024 F150 Lariat? The part number I found (NL3Z-13A613-A) only shows as fitting 2021-2023 models. Is there a different part number for 2024?
My scheduled build week is Aug 12. Per the dealer, I won't see the truck until 6 weeks after it rolls out of the factory so maybe by the end of September.Any update on this? Just curious where you get info on this 303A with leather - I'm drawing a blank on Ford's retail Build-and-Price webpage and in the latest Order Guide I have (2/16/2024)?There's now a 303a XLT that's higher priced than the lariats. They come w/ leather but not H/C seats (though 303's leather is better).
Perhaps true on a 'feature count' basis, but the fact remains that some features desirable to some owners are only available on the Lariat (or higher).Having gone through finding a truck recently for a family member, the 24 302a has more features than come on the 23 and under 501s.
It's in the BAP package like it was for 23Just curious where you get info on this 303A with leather - I'm drawing a blank on Ford's retail Build-and-Price webpage and in the latest Order Guide I have (2/16/2024)?
Outside of the tailgate, the other 2 features are easily added. I can handle the ~15lbs of force required to start the tailgate up (with step that is). It's pretty easy to use my knee to hand it to the hand. I've easily closed the tailgate pretty much every way possible sans using my head. That'll probably come one day. Remote open is handy, but even that really isn't needed. If it's going into the bed, there's much more to what I'm doing else it'd be in the cab. In today's trucks the $10k premium of the lariat doesn't buy much, and the same $ in an XLT opens up a whole lot of identical or superior options with $ to spare.
- TOD transfer case
- TT Mirrors with power fold / extend
- Power up-and-down tailgate
Ford realized that customers would gladly pay more for less and realized they could get away with it, so they doubled down on their paywalling features.Seems something like the bed camera would become standard. Reason I bought a 2021 was to get everything deleted in later years. Thought 2024 was supposed to bring everything back after the chip issues. ?![]()
Some opinions might differ on the 'ease' (not to mention expense and warranty implications) of a swap to TOD.Outside of the tailgate, the other 2 features are easily added.
All well and good, but for me the ability to power the tailgate both up and down using the push-button in the cab while solo hitching / unhitching my 5th wheel trailer is a tremendous convenience and step saver.I can handle the ~15lbs of force required to start the tailgate up (with step that is). Doesn't that sorta blow your economics argument? There's now a 303a XLT that's higher priced than the lariats.

Hitching the 5th wheel is very niche use case. If you do it often enough it makes sense. Yes, for some people it makes sense, but not many. Others who enjoy doing mods it does not. Time is money, but for some it's a hobby. As for the economics, I think you misunderstood. You're still coming out at half the price of a lariat while achieving better results. In the process of doing the upgrades you gain invaluable insights into the vehicle itself which has the benefit of self repairing something that could take a dealer weeks to get to. Not burning the time while also still remaining in possession of the truck has a price all on its own. Some opinions might differ on the 'ease' (not to mention expense and warranty implications) of a swap to TOD.
Nor is the expense of swap to power fold/extend TT mirrors w/360 cams a small matter.
Again, your opinion may differ, no worries, but many folks prefer to buy a truck having their preferred equipment as OE rather than buy a truck with the prospect of making significant mods after purchase, and are willing to pay for the privilege.

I'll not continue this discussion further, just conclude by saying that the XLT-to-Lariat upgrade can make sense and cents for folks preferring to drive out of the dealership with some features as OE equipment.
YMMV, no worries!
Oh, and yes, I'm thankful that my 2022 500A has the CHMSL-cam as OE (again, very handy when solo hitching a 5th wheel trailer), and do think it sux that Ford moved availability of that feature 'up-trim' in later years.![]()

Will do... My build week is Aug 12, but the dealer says it will be another 4-6 weeks before delivery so hopefully before the end of September...Let us know if you did get the bed camara
Bummer, Ford just pushed my build week back 2 weeks from 8/12 to 8/26. Maybe an October delivery now...Will do... My build week is Aug 12, but the dealer says it will be another 4-6 weeks before delivery so hopefully before the end of September...
From build to ready for pickup was less than a month on mine, so hopefully you get good luck and it arrives in September.Bummer, Ford just pushed my build week back 2 weeks from 8/12 to 8/26. Maybe an October delivery now...
