Hey guys,

anyone know if you can use the 360 cameras on our trucks as dash cameras? Can they be modified to record and be used as dash cams?

I don’t see why they couldn’t….

It boggles my mind how we cannot use our own cameras as dash cams... yet. I hope someone has figured out a way. I am actually looking into front & rear dash camera set up... anybody got any recommendations?

I have front and rear and ran a power wire from front to back. Would be cool if there was an OBD module that would record to micro SD card.

After the latest update, I can now drive full speed with my rear cameras displayed on my screen.

AND... I can now also access a camera view straight down onto my trailer hitch, which would be GREAT for backing my truck up to my trailer. BUT… once I shift into reverse, that camera view option disappears!

WTF?!!

When you are moving at speed with the main rear view displayed do you still get that black bar safety notice right across the main area blocking a lot of view?

I do but only on the tailgate cam, not on the cab cam or the hitch view cam.

That black bar renders the tailgate cam pretty useless while driving at speed.

I'm thinking that the ability to access cameras while driving must be a glitch that will go away in some future update because I wasn't able to access ANY cameras while driving when I got the truck.

And I never had the “hitch view” before either and now I even have an icon for it in the menu …that disappears when I shift into reverse!? Since I haven’t added any cameras to my truck, it must be a CGI-esque computer generated view.

I can see why they wouldn't want you to have those views while driving. It's pretty distracting and even a little nauseating watching where you've been scream by at highway speed. ...almost hypnotizing.

Hopefully they'll also fix the trailer hitch cam disappearing when I go into reverse. Being able to look straight down at my ball is pretty useless in “drive” and would be VERY useful in “reverse”.

Having the 360 degree overhead view would be useful in heavy traffic. The indicators on the mirrors tell me when there’s another vehicle next to me in the next lane but it doesn’t tell me how close they are and there are A LOT of people out there on the road who “just happen to be ALSO driving”!

Even in Semi trucks.

I would be nice to have the OEM 360 cameras recording to some memory that might be connected to one of the usb ports.

Instead, I installed a 2-camera aftermarket Redtiger dash cam system right behind my rear-view mirror and tapped into the mirror port to get the power needed. I primarily use my phone to access any recordings.
