Not sure if my truck was the only one that Ford forgot to paint the brake caliper brakets and the rear driveshaft yoke but they were rusted right from the dealer lot, lol

Anyway, I wanted to clean up the solid orange rust and paint those as well as the diff and driveshaft while I was at it. The problem was it was next to impossible to get a grinder or wire wheel in some of those tight spots.

Well I decided to try something different, a product called " Krud Kutter The Must For Rust" made by Rustoleum. I was very skeptical at first as this is water based and biodegradable!! Usually that means it won't do anything, lol! We'll...I was wrong, this stuff is amazing! The trick is to put it on thick ( it's a gel) and leave it on as long as possible and wipe it off before it dries. I went over the rusty spots a few times and wiped clean afterwards then gave it a good pressure wash which took even more rust off. Oh ya, this is also supposed to be a rust inhibitor and ready to paint right after you wipe the metal clean!

Just thought I would share this and hopefully it helps someone.

You are very welcome! I never tried a liquid rust remover before, always did it the traditional way, lol!!

Apparently Krud Kutter rust remover is not available in the states, but the Rust-Oleum branded version is. Or at least would be if it wasn't out of stock everywhere. :cautious:

And a shout out for the regular Krud Kutter for general garage cleaning & light degreasing. Been using it for a couple decades. Wasn't aware it's in the Rustoleum family now.

I saw it on the Rustoleum website but when I read your comment I went and looked on the bottle and couldnt find "Rustoleum " anywhere, lol!! I just read on the bottle that it is good for cleaning toilets, hahahahaha!

Looks great. I'll need to get some.
What product will you be using for paint? I've been wondering about something that can be brushed on to avoid overspray on everything. Would something like Por15 be a good option?
