Just hit 30k miles on my 2023 and over the last few weeks the truck has developed a pretty aggressive clunk when I take off from stop lights. If I ease the throttle super slow no clunk. I recall on older models sometimes you have to drop the driveshaft and grease the slip yolk splines. Is this still an issue?

It can still be an issue on our trucks but it doesn't seem to be as common.

Mine does like a chirp noise or something when I'm taking off or hit a bump while taking off. It's done it pretty much since new always wondered about it but didn't know how to explain the noise. Lol.
It's like a chirp sound like if you'd hit 2 hard rubber bump stops together or something like that. I'm horrible at explaining this.

Taking it to dealer next week scheduled today. The sound has gotten so nasty the driveshaft sounds like it’s going to blow off every time it hit the gas. Over the phone they said they think it’s probably a bad U-joint which they will try and wrestle Ford to cover under goodwill. I am technically out of my 36,000 bumper to bumper as I hit 36,900 miles today. In my experience Ford is pretty good about covering goodwill repairs that fall just outside the warranty in the past so fingers crossed.

Both U-joints were totally sloppy and shot on the driveshaft. Ford replaced the driveshaft and U-joints and it’s good as new. No more clunks.

Apparently my heavy right foot coupled with 5.0 power is a bit much on an F-150 drivetrain :)

Ive seen a few gen 14s with almost no grease at all on the slip. Is yours lifted? Im wondering why they went bad. Sucks nothing is greasable anymore.

Yes Ford has a problem with that ! it needs to be greased. Super Lube Synthetic grease with PTFE is what you should use !! Ford sells there own grease for that .

try this. After coming to a stop, place the transmission in neutral light off the brake for a second. Apply the brake and shift back into drive. Accelerate from the stoplight as normal, do you still have the issue?

Motorcraft XG-8. A three ounce tube is about $9. My slip yoke had no grease but slid out smoothly. I only used about a ounce. Once I greased it my off throttle / downhill clunk was gone.

Must be that NY driving style which is basically pedal to the floor on gas and then brake and then back to gas. 😉
