Did you save the as built file from your previous SCCM and load it into the new SCCM? If not, it might be related to the information stored in the new SCCM not agreeing with your truck.
I definitely should have started with this question...

So it looks like you've got both the correct wheel and the power harness. The gray plug on the right supplies power to the steering wheel heating element through the module (2 wires...1 is power and the other is ground). What you need now is to remove the brown plug (behind your air bag) and see if you have pins inside your SCCM. If blank then you will need to change that. If pins are present you could confirm power there with a voltage check. Take a pic (if still taken apart) and report back.
Well, it was blank in there (no pins). So I went back through a little bit of this tonight and guess I really only need the clock spring?? Please correct me if I'm wrong or need anything else. ML3Z14A664B is the part number I found. (Not sure if my model/trim affects which clock spring I need or not) Here's another pic of what I found:

That should work for you. You will just need to make the necessary Forscan changes after.

What you're talking about replacing is the SCCM or steering column control module. It's not going to be plug and play. You'll need one that has the part number from a truck that has heated wheel. If you purchase a used one or take out it will most likely be programed from the truck it came out of and will work, but you will not be able to update it's programing with FDRS and it will not accept OTA's as the part number will be a mis match to the original vehicles build. If you purchase a new SCCM it will not be programed and will need to be programed before it will work. The new module would need to have a PMI run on it in FDRS after install but FDRS will not be able to program it as it's a part number mismatch for the truck. I understand that the software can be installed using Forscan beta but you'll need the files to upload to the new SCCM and as built information, your other option is to install the new SCCM in a truck that has a heated wheel then program it with FDRS and remove it and install it in your truck.

Yeah, that was the first thing that I did. It made no difference, but I tried the files from the module and from my truck with exactly the same results (same codes, et c). Both configs give an "incorrect module installed" code in addition to temp sensor shorts and all of the other stuff (there are like 8 codes). Again, all of this is with the power wire not hooked up, but I am suspicious that simply plugging in power wont' fix it. I am also wary of supplying 12V power to a circuit that I'm not sure can control its draw.

Get the beta version of Forscan and do a firmware update on the SCCM. That procedure will update the rest of the truck’s modules with the information from the SCCM. Basically tells everybody the new kid is part of the team now. Make sure you read every detail of the firmware update procedure in the Forscan forums sticky about the process. Follow the directions and it’s pretty simple, skip a step and then you’ll brick a module and hate life until you get it fixe.

0k I have read through all 100 pages of this some of it multiple times. Copied and Emailed important to me posts. Watched countless videos, and yet still have questions. The questions are not the fault of anyone here, but has to do with fords sometimes rather vague descriptions of parts.

All of the SCCM list with and without except for one thing! With or without heated steering wheel.

My situation is I have a Super Crew Xlt it Is: W/O Rain sensing wipers, W/0 adaptive cruise control, W/O power tilt telescoping steering wheel.

I see that several XLT members have gone with the ML3Z 3F791 BB --SCCM.

The Ford 2023 free heated steering wheel program says in my situation I should use an ML3Z 3F791 AB--SCCM.

This above has already been superseded by PL3Z-3F791-GA.

Point is the BB is more expensive and comes with 2 parts that are not used the power tilt telescoping steering. and the auto wiper arm.

The GA previously AB is a much cheaper option! 52$!

But does it support Heated steering wheel? I emailed 2 ford parts dealers, have not gotten a reply as of yet.

But if the GA is viable that means my XLT can have HSW for 270 including shipping with the soft button..

Thank You for any insight to this.

What brought me into this was, My truck was at the dealer for 3 weeks, the loaner Escape I was given had:

heated power drivers seat
heated manual passenger seat
and HSW.

Yet on a 150 XLT ( I tried last night but the build was for a 24, maybe 25 things will change) you still can not add a heated HSW even though both front seats are power and heated.. Come on Ford, that is ridiculous! The seats in the escape got so hot on the top setting no one could keep in on 3!

All of the SCCMs listed there support heated steering wheels, so the GA (AB) will be fine.

What is weird is an online ford dealer is listing and both are available it seems with about a 10$ price difference.
Not worried about the money, but rather the differences?

If I order the AB am I sent a GA anyway?

I am leaning towards If one orders AB one actually gets a GA heard this happens a lot with ford parts.

I don't know how the cut and paste reverts to an L3Z, where the =====that is coming from!!!

Here is the link.

During all this the dealer called me back in response to My email.

I was on hold with them when you responded.

They Agee with your conclusion 100 %?

I may of gotten PL and ML and other nomenclature mixed up in my post as well ordering the AB!

I installed my heated wheel in late November and today it quit working. I check Forscan and have this DTC. Has anyone experienced this before?
