You’re going to get in trouble for saying it’s deleted. According to some, it’s like the same bro.

Which is worse…..

1). Peeps complaining about a minor option being deleted.
2). Peeps complaining about people complaining about a minor option being deleted.
3). Having to watch soccer.

ps. I love my 2023 with factory keypad!!!!
....and for being a bean counter. ?

I think elephants was a wise choice to add to this thread. An elephant never forgets their keypad code.

This is my first Ford. When I bought it, I didn't think much of the keypad. But it's become my favorite feature. I go for runs at local trails, and it's so nice leaving the key in the truck. Same story when we go up to our marina and take the boat out. Same story when I go camping.

While the stick on battery powered keypad is a downgrade, at least they still offer a solution. It's unfortunate that the battery cannot be replaced, but if that's because they use a battery that lasts 5 years or more then that's ok.

I plan to keep my truck for 10 years, so who knows what the situation will be in 2035 and what kind of vehicles I'll be shopping for then. Maybe we'll be able to unlock a truck with a neuralink brain implant then. lol.

Here's link to the install instructions of the new keypad confirming that the battery is not replaceable: https://www.fordservicecontent.com/...G544_AC_On_Line_Instruction_Sheet_11_2024.pdf

Im in the camp that thinks deleting the keypad is a bad idea. I have 5 f150s and employees. The keypads are used several times a day by them.
It would be impossible to provide keys for each of them and the probably that I get the key back when they quit or move on is minimal.

Can you imagine the cost of getting 25 keys made?

If I happen to have an employee leave I simply change the codes.

The keypad option is in the top reasons I chose ford over others. Even with the fact that I have had to do cam phasers on all at 80k miles.

It's been talked about that there is a stick on option that uses a battery. I don't trust that. I live in a part of the country that gets down to 20 below zero. Batteries just don't work the same.

I understand that ford is pinching penny's. But all the seemingly small deletions that really are not expensive or turning them into options on a 80k truck aggravating.

Im a hacker and I'm sure I can hack in a keypad from a older truck if I ever buy a new ford again.
If not then every truck manufacturer is an option.

Like I said the key pad is on the top of my decision to purchase ford.

I have to allow others to drive my fleet and not go chasing down keys.

I know I can set up ford pass on the phone and I can monitor and change codes but ford pass is so god dam slow. Nobody wants to stand out in the rain, snow, 30deg below wind waiting for ford pass to send the unlock code.

Ford has been deleting things at a rapid rate lately. This puts a sour taste in mouth

I usually make sure nobody's in the parking lot and I just tuck the key up in bumper.

Excuse my ignorance, but if they don't have a key, how do they start and drive the truck?

You leave the key in the truck. The whole idea is key isn’t getting lost by handing it around amongst employees. For personal users, it’s just one less thing to keep up with. Key is always in the truck, locked securely with door code. ?

I don't know the particulars of this guy's business, so I won't say he should definitely do it this way, but I've worked places with fleet vehicles that had keys that you just took with you for the day when you use it. If you took the vehicle home, the key went with you and when you returned to the "base", you hung the key on the rack.

It’s really not your or my place to judge what he does with his vehicle.
Quite a few people do this. I wouldn’t do it, but I know it, buddy. Who’s key fob hasn’t been out of his truck in probably 2 1/2 or three years.

Not judging anyone. Just trying to understand why that's not an option.

I really, really struggle to understand why it's so hard to just use a key. Maybe I'm just trying to see it from their point of view.

It is called a modern convenience. Some people may struggle to understand why people drive cars when horses and bicycles exist.

I’m agreeing with you.
It’s not hard to use a key.
It’s his preference
It’s what he chooses to do
That’s what others choose to do

It’s not wrong. It’s just apparently different than the way you choose to do it.

I love the key keypad. I use it quite often. My truck is in the shop which is about 120 feet from the house. I often do minor maintenance or check fluids on the truck when I didn’t think I would be doing it. The truck is locked when it’s in the shop The key is normally always in the house. The keypad is a wonderful option for me. It saves me from walking my lazy ass to the house to get the key fob.
