Its best if used as Biamp for front stage. Most intended use.
What should I be using instead? The instructions say bi-amp use is the least common. If there is another DSP amp in this range, I would love to buy that instead. I just want to do this once and do it with the best bang for the buck.

Several things, me, Id use the bi-amp and run the dull DSP setup to a front mid, and seperate tweeter. Leave passive Xovers out. Your going to see the best "performance" that way. Then run rear speakers off deck.
Later, if you add a bigger sub, etc to it. You can use the KEY as a pre-amp, add a bigger 4 or 5 channel amp to it. It will still use the DSP algorithm and keep the time alignment, etc
That's what Id do....we are working on a 5 channel, more powerful KEY amp in the near future.
More 4 channel power and sub amp, all in one.
If you'd like to flatten all the factory EQ curves, use the KEYLOC, or some use Forscan, which I don't know enough about to add comments on.

How about a 7 or 9 channel which includes an amplified center w/ a sub preamp out? Also include a USB interface for laptop adjustment. Optional RJ11 remote for switching DSP profiles or sub remote, etc.... (Inset module preferred so that either wired USB or a BT module can be inserted vs hanging off the side.

Grab one of those 8 channel JBL / infinifty DSP amps as a guide, but avoid the pigtails if possible with dedicated wire lugs.

Got more ideas where that came from, happy to demo as well. Variable power on the channels is good like 40w x 5 for center / tweets / mids, 60w rears, 90w for the door drivers. No real need for a sub channel unless it's 600w+ actual output. 2 versions, w/ sub and w/out.

Yes years ago we made the SX amp, had tons of tuning on it, way before tuning was a thing. Then we made IQ amps, plug in lap top, can tune for days with a laptop. Way before its time, there are some tweekers still out there, but retailers barely can keep installers, so they have zero idea what a tuning setup is LOL

The new amp I'm trying isn't DSP, but 7 channel, 65x2 for tweeters, 125x4 @4 ohm, and 700+ on sub.
Waiting to get time in the bay to install it, and new enclosure.

meh, you can still do n00b mic auto config w/ it, but allow access for manual adjustments. Wish audio control made 7 and 8 channel like their 5 channel DSP amp by adding 2-3 40w channels. Fortunately their 2 line outs on the DSP allows a small amp to be added for such.

Thats the cool thing on the KEY, self tuning. It can measure speaker frequencies, location, set crossover and compression all by its self.
We just need more channels and more power, IMHO

That's cool for what it is, but my ears like my taste buds don't want a flat curve. What a software's interpretation of the sound coming through a mic is vs what my ears like are much different. I don't run a flat curve for the sake of a flat curve / overlapping curves. I tune to ear across a variety of music and I have more than 1 setup in the DSP to choose from. Sometimes the timing is driver focused, I also have a centered profile so it doesn't sound much different in a different seat. One size fits some is just that, and with the time and effort put into the vehicle to build it out, I demand many sizes for all scenarios. Having the ability to manually tune beyond the 'auto' is a must.

Your the 1%ers. Most manufactures wont build for items like this, they wanna sell 1000's. :)

If people could connect up to it w/ BT and change settings with ease learning how, they would. Forscan is much more complex of a tool and its use is quite ubiquitous. At the very least it should include a module slot to insert such a device, granted the cheap cost of a BT chip still leaves healthy profit at $20 option cost. It's a simple ask for having the ability to configure DSP settings.

There's tons of combos just like that, already. Even up to 18 channels. These aren't novel ideas, sorry.

Some niche stuff out there, yes, trying to charge their weight in silver. Huge margin in car audio too. Given modern audio configurations, 8-10 channel amps should be more ubiquitous. Not uncommon to have 5 channels in the front alone and it's nothing to add another 2-4 ~40w channels. I got unbelievable results out of the 8 channel JBL DSP amp (also branded as infinity now as well) that I got for $300. No auto setup, 100% through the app. Wasn't rocket science, but it wasn't the first DSP I've set up.
