Just replaced my battery with an H8 from Walmart at about a year after purchase. Didn’t feel like dealing with the dealer “battery just low” BS. Also after I just purchased the truck I noticed the labels on top of the battery bulging. The battery cell caps were popped up. More than likely from dealership rapid charging. Was getting low battery warnings all the time. All warnings stopped after new battery……

A lot has to do with how much your truck runs on eco, / battery. When they run on battery they are not charging. My truck just did this last week, I noticed that my interior lights were not coming on, researched it and a few posts said just put a charger on it over night. I did that and so far, so good. I may just do that once a month because I do a lot of city driving, not many times does truck run with motor for more than 10 minutes at at a time. Time will tell.
ahh... that copuld be. i'm only 3 miles from work, so, its a short commute, lol.
the truck runs in electric mode often.
i do have a good charger that i can use overnight, i'll try that.
thanks.

Welp, it's only been 3 years and 37k miles, but ....i'm getting warnings about the vehicle turning off features to save battery life.
i know from past experience with gf's Ford Edge that it's a bad battery, but after only 3 years? that's a year or two early :cautious::confused:.
i'm not sure if it's going to last another month.
i have a month to decide if i'm buying out this lease or take the new 25' Lariat PB i have on order. i'd hate to drop $200 on a battery just to turn it in.

anyone else have a bad battery after 3 years?
Yep, was luck enough to get dealer to replace mine while my '22 Lariat was in for warranty work - GWM replacement. Battery was challenged to maintain a good charge unless I kept a trickle charger on it.

My truck was manufactured November/December 2022, and I received it in January 2023. It went bad in December 2023 and rather than deal with Ford, I just bought a bigger and better battery from Costco. No problems since (related to the battery).

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
I have a 2021 Lariat 5.0. 28,000 miles. Dallas, TX. I bought it used (maybe pre-owned is the woke phrase) out of Iowa in the spring of 2024. It still has the original battery. There have been two long 90 day periods where it was not driven at all.

I keep reading about these bad batteries but am not getting it. I have several cars that I drive infrequently. I put them on a maintainer every two or three weeks until the light turns green, then unplug them. I keep thinking the F150 battery will die based on what I continue to read.
I guess we will see.

When it goes I think I will replace it with the larger battery just because I can, unless someone talks me out of it.

Check in on almost any forum related to the latest modern "connected" vehicles and you will find that the lifespan of oem 12V batteries isn't what they have historically been. It's far from an F150 issue.

I personally believe that the low voltage battery technology itself is pretty much the same as it was a decade or longer ago. But the environment that battery lives in is very different, since these modern vehicles are not asleep when you are. Throw in the fuel economy-software controlled strategy to NOT just dumb-charge the battery everytime you start the vehicle?

Lead Acid/AGM 12V battery is being taxed with very little headroom for long life.

^^^^ I agree, seems 3-4 years is lifespan as opposed to 5-7 with vehicles manufactured 15 years ago.

Let’s not forget Covid years garbage quality of many goods as well.

One other thing. A battery is driving your new 2025 PB decision? Notwithstanding the fact I would never buy a PB, I'm missing the thought process here on how a $200-$300 battery impacts that decision. $300 for 3 years at 7% is a rounding error in that decision.

I can tell when my OEM battery needs a charge. The auto stop/start doesn't work. So, I put it on a trickle charger overnight and it's good for a while. My commute is only about 12 miles so not enough time for it to charge back up.

My guess of your next 2 weeks:

- make an appointment at dealer
- they’ll test the battery and tell you it’s “within spec and not causing issues”
- you’ll leave frustrated
- you’ll go down to the battery store and get a new EGM and fix everything

If I were you, I’d skip the trip to the dealer, spend ~250, and chalk it up to the cost of your peace.

I think several of us have noticed the same thing, there are some enormous threads on this topic in this forum. So YES, we've seen this a lot, in many cases well before three years. My chosen replacement was from Batteries Plus and cost about $350 after discount and core refund. Others have gone a much more inexpensive route with good results as well.
I just replaced my battery last week from Costco. It was $169 + $15 core charge. CCA was also slightly higher as a bonus.

But!

What’s that auxiliary battery under the back seat that's propping up that AGM? ???

I'm waiting for you to declare your experiments have completed and you have a recommendation.
