Hey guys, I have about 1600 miles on my 2024 RCSB. When I change my oil, is there a particular oil and filter that is “best”?

back with my 1993 5.0 Mustang, I pretty much used Royal Purple synthetic for everything, but that was over 20 years ago.

Lots of oil debate threads on here, so use the search.
But I see a lot of people recommending the Ford Oil filter and Pennzoil platinum.

The purelator boss and the Fram Endurance oil filters have also tested well.

I'd say stick to any modern quality synthetic since nearly all have the same API ratings.

For filters I prefer Wix but that's just personal preference. You can use what ever brand you like but just toss that 10K oil change nonsense out the window and change it every 3-5K miles depending on how you drive and you'll be fine. 3K for a lot of stop/go city and 5K for mostly highway.

Those 10K+ oil change intervals are hell on engines and lead to engines burning oil, excessive wear, and sludge buildup to name a few.

I would recommend a Purolator Boss filter
Quality synthetic oil, your brand choice
An oil change interval of 5k or less

For a regular, normal use truck just a normal manufacturer spec oil in synthetic. If you're gonna tune it and boost it I'd run a more premium oil. Will be Amsoil for me most likely.

There are four things I hesitate to talk about with people I don't know.

1 Guns
2 Religion
3 Politics
4 Oil change intervals and oil type/brand

I try to avoid conflict.

Just kidding. I use Mobile 1 full synthetic and NAPA Gold filter.

For current gm and ford NA v8, I like the Walmart jug of M1 5w40 or 0w40 euro FS

If you do any spirited driving or street/drag racing, stick to 5k intervals to be on the safe side. I used to use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum, but now I recently switched to Mobil 1 Extended Performance Advanced Full Synthetic (PUP is a pita to find locally). There's no real wrong answer. After some research I threw in Liqui-Moly Ceratec for the hell of it (the effects lasts for 30k miles before I have to get another bottle) and because I plan on keeping this truck forever. You don't need to use Ceratec if you don't want to.

As long as the oil you choose meets the minimum requirements, you're golden. If your pockets are deep, get amsoil (you can run longer intervals typically, but idk how that works if you frequently drive spirited, race, or tow a lot), if your pockets aren't deep, use the Advanced Full Synthetic Supertech oil from Walmart (I'd go 5k intervals here lol).

For the oil filter, I use Wix XP 57502. Buy it online (cheaper) or pick it up at any O'Reilly's.

Like a lot of others have said everyone has their own opinions or schedule they use. Coke vs. Pepsi. Rocky vs. Apollo Creed. Ford vs. Chevy. Use a good synthetic and change every 5k. Use Trip 2 to keep track.

why not stick with what the manufacturer recommends? like above. if its a normal duty truck why go nuts? I change mine every 5K miles. and I am not into debating oils either. just my 2 cents. plenty of internet opinions over the best oils. take your pick

Thanks guys…I don’t race. I sort of expected this, but just wanted to make sure there wasn’t something new.

Because they also recommend using an oil that meets WSS-M2C961-A1 standards. People tend to like to stick with what's worked for them in the past.

Think of it like your barber.
