The Ford cover is the Spicer cover with a Ford logo riveted on it.
I believe you are correct……my ford piece was essentially free…..used points

The branding makes it go faster, so its totally worth it.
To really get the most of it you need to fully apply all of the ford performance stickers in the package! Each of the larger stickers are 2hp each, the smaller ones only yield about .9hp -- but it all adds up!

I added the Spicer earlier this week. A few notes from my install.

1. re-use the factory bolts
2. mine was drastically undefiled. I only collected 1 quart of used oil and it was BLACK. Very undefiled from the factory.
3. I filled from the factory location on the side just to see how much capacity it has at the factory fill level and it took 3.5 Quarts.

Looks like a great idea. Looks liker there are 3 different rear diffs, 2 9.75 and 8.8. You have to have the max payload package or heavy towing to get the floating 9.75. Not sure how to tell which you have.

My 9.75" took around 3.25 quarts. I had to order a 4th quart after it took 3 without dripping. I filled it to the lower port, which is the fill port. The top port is the inspection port.

Kind of wild.

From the videos I have seen, the top port is the one to use if your truck is lifted over 3 inches. Is that not correct?

I've never heard of that.

That must be assuming the pinion angle changes due to the increased height.

I installed the spicer cover and just around 3.9 quarts of fluid. I also did the sight glass @FaaWrenchBndr suggested. Great mod for $16!

Overall, I'm very happy with the lubelocker and spicer......I will echo the others and say to re-use the OEM bolts. The spicer bolts are absolute junk.

From what I read, that is correct. The top port is for increased pinion angles.

you are correct. The top port is indeed a fill port for lifted truck that has a higher opinion angle.

I'm glad the one guy's axle was undefiled-no one should have their axle defiled, especially their rear. However, it would have been nice if it had also not been underfilled.
