Seriously considered the Contis. Good tires. I performed a comparison between them and a few others on tirerack.com. I noted Continental does not release some tire information. The Michelin Defender MS2's do, and came out way ahead in every category, plus in both anecdotal and editor reviews. They were ultimately chosen. $1450.

About 4K miles on them in all kinds of weather plus towing in blistering heat. Outstanding tire. Quiet, stable, smooth.

Hi everyone. Sorry for another tire thread but I have somewhat of a unique need. I've read through all the threads I could find but wanted to be more specific in my ask. My situation is this - I have been battling hearing issues for the past few years, some hearing loss but also tinnitus and hyperacusis (sound sensitivity). So I'm much more sensitive to certain sounds than most and it actually causes me pain. I just picked up the 2024 Platinum powerboost below and I'm impressed with the quietness of the Hankooks especially when the truck is in electric mode! However, I hate the look of them on a truck and have read the all weather performance isn't great. I just need something more rugged looking and solid all weather while staying that quiet! I also hunt and fish so I'm on trail some during the year, usually nothing too challenging.

Below are tires I have experience with and my thoughts if that helps.
Nitto Ridge Grapplers - my son runs these on his 2015 F150 in 35". Love the look but don't like the drone. Of course his 4" cat back with muffler delete makes it hard to tell sometimes ?
BFG ko2 - my daughter has these on her Wrangler. Love the look, but I think they make a little more noise than I would like. Tough to be sure as the jeep is loud on the highway anyway!
Toyo AT3 - have these on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Overall a solid tire on that vehicle and pretty quiet. But from reviews I've read seems like they are not the quietest or best all weather tires on an F150. Also not aggressive looking lugs on the p rated versions.
Falken Wild Peak at3w - put these on day 1 on my 2022 F150 I traded in. No complaints on performance when I ran these for 25k miles but I definitely think they were louder compared to the new truck/hankooks.

I want to stay away from E rated tires, I'd like to be somewhere in the 40s for weight to keep the great MPGs I'm seeing on the PB. What I'm considering based on everything I've read

1. Continental Terrain contact AT - seems like it would be the most quiet of this list but least aggressive looking. Seems to get a lot of positive reviews
2. Nitto Recon Grapplers - love the look of these, but really varied reviews. Some say it's super quiet and great all weather, others say the opposite! Can also get these in P rated in a 34" which I'd prefer. This would be my #1 choice if it's as quiet as the hankooks
3. Cooper Road and Trail AT - more rugged looking than the Contis but maybe just as quiet? Newer tire so less info to go on

Other tires considered but not making the list
Falken ATw4 - 51#s in stock size
Firestone Destination AT2/ Bridgestone revo - WOL
BFG ko3 - size not available, too heavy
Michelin, yoko geolander - similar to Contis above, I prefer the look of the Contis
MT baja boss at, general grabber - love the look but expect the noise level to be similar to Nitto Ridge Grapps

Would appreciate everyone's input on this decision. Thanks in advance!

How about General Grabber ATx, you can get them in a C & D rate but the D might have a slightly higher side wall. I am running them and have about 7000Km on them and they are quiet, they look great too and are Snow flake rated if you need that. Mine are E rate so I cannot compare to the C rate. These are way quieter than my Grabber X3’s.
So far I love these tires.
I do have the ATx in 15” on my off road trailer which have about 30000km on them in a C rate and they still have tons of tread left, not noisy either albeit they are on a trailer.

100% on the Michelin Defender LTX MS/2. I too would love a more aggressive looking tire that performs as well as the Michelins, but can't find any. I considered Nitto Ridge Grapplers, but I have the 22" wheels and those tires are $200 more each tire and weight another 20 lbs each. I tow snowmobiles in (hopefully) really snowy weather on the freeway and my logical side of the brain says to get the best performing tire, and looks come second. I considered a 2" lift, bigger tires etc., but ultimately chose to keep it stock and put the Michelins on it. Less weight, quieter, usually less expensive, easily last 60K miles and keeps me out of the ditch when the slush starts pulling and wants to suck me into the abyss and create a yard sale out of my significant investment.

Yeah, I noticed improved 1 - 2 mpg too over the crappy Hanook OEMs.

Like you, could care less what the tires look like. They sit on pleasing OEM rims.

BTW, OP. The Defenders come in two flavors separated by a few bucks each: B Temp and B Wear or A Temp, B Wear. For summer towing, temp is a greater concern so went with A/B.

Just put the 20" LTX Defenders M&S 2's also. Had 20,000 on a 23 Platinum and wanted to go with these Michelins as the Hanooks had a really slight vibration from 75-85 MPH. I travel a lot and found myself deliberately slowing to 75 just to keep the truck perfectly smooth. Had had the tires road force balanced at my dealer and they still had a vibration. Had my dealer install the Defenders a couple weeks ago. The Michelins are DEAD smooth. They throw more splash up on the truck as they water better than the Hanooks. Gas milage was identical on my last weekend 800 mile trip to Charlotte. I made the right choice....

Did you put on stock size tires or did you upsize? I love Defenders, and know they will out perform a k/o in the snow easily, but they just don’t look as nice.

Yes, Identical. But the side of the truck now gets "fantailed" after its driven in rain. Did not do that with the Hankooks. At least not nearly as much. I live in Ohio, so it shows more than a sandy climate. This just tells me they water well and get rid of the moisture in the tread.

BFG Trail Terrain R like a KO2 light duty. Relatively new tire.
Put them on 24 4Runner and look great and good mpg. Was planning to reshoe our Tundra with these but traded for F150 because of engine recall. Goodyear Wrangles R good enough for OEM so will not upgrade those for a while.

Interesting, those look like "baby" ko2 s. For 275/60/20 they are listed as WOL...anyone know if they have BSW on the other side you can mount out? Not looking for WOL

My 2023 F150 Platinum I had BF Goodrich Ko 2's on it. It road to hard & nosies for me. I took them off last week & got the Falkin Wildpeat 4w in a SL rated tires. My F150 rides much better & is a lot quieter. Don't get a LT rated tires your truck will ride hard.

I have 10K miles experience with the wildpeak AT4's in the same size as the factory Good Year AT's. I have no lift or any suspension mods. The tires are in the SL rating, but they are heavy compared to the same size factory tire. I put them on my truck in March and drove the perimeter of the USA. So, lots of variables in road conditions and elevation, etc. About 700 miles were off-road forest type dirt roads.

I lost about 2 miles per gallon for the 1st 8K miles. Then all of a sudden they started averaging close to the same as the factory tires. The noise level to me seems insignificant compared to the factory tires...pretty quiet in my opinion. The noise level hasn't changed yet after 10K miles. I have been extremely impressed that the tire pressure is the same as it was the day they were put on. They always seem to right around 35psi when cold, plus or minus a pound based on outside temperature. I really like these tires so far. Hope this helps.
