Hi everyone. Sorry for another tire thread but I have somewhat of a unique need. I've read through all the threads I could find but wanted to be more specific in my ask. My situation is this - I have been battling hearing issues for the past few years, some hearing loss but also tinnitus and hyperacusis (sound sensitivity). So I'm much more sensitive to certain sounds than most and it actually causes me pain. I just picked up the 2024 Platinum powerboost below and I'm impressed with the quietness of the Hankooks especially when the truck is in electric mode! However, I hate the look of them on a truck and have read the all weather performance isn't great. I just need something more rugged looking and solid all weather while staying that quiet! I also hunt and fish so I'm on trail some during the year, usually nothing too challenging.

Below are tires I have experience with and my thoughts if that helps.
Nitto Ridge Grapplers - my son runs these on his 2015 F150 in 35". Love the look but don't like the drone. Of course his 4" cat back with muffler delete makes it hard to tell sometimes ?
BFG ko2 - my daughter has these on her Wrangler. Love the look, but I think they make a little more noise than I would like. Tough to be sure as the jeep is loud on the highway anyway!
Toyo AT3 - have these on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Overall a solid tire on that vehicle and pretty quiet. But from reviews I've read seems like they are not the quietest or best all weather tires on an F150. Also not aggressive looking lugs on the p rated versions.
Falken Wild Peak at3w - put these on day 1 on my 2022 F150 I traded in. No complaints on performance when I ran these for 25k miles but I definitely think they were louder compared to the new truck/hankooks.

I want to stay away from E rated tires, I'd like to be somewhere in the 40s for weight to keep the great MPGs I'm seeing on the PB. What I'm considering based on everything I've read

1. Continental Terrain contact AT - seems like it would be the most quiet of this list but least aggressive looking. Seems to get a lot of positive reviews
2. Nitto Recon Grapplers - love the look of these, but really varied reviews. Some say it's super quiet and great all weather, others say the opposite! Can also get these in P rated in a 34" which I'd prefer. This would be my #1 choice if it's as quiet as the hankooks
3. Cooper Road and Trail AT - more rugged looking than the Contis but maybe just as quiet? Newer tire so less info to go on

Other tires considered but not making the list
Falken ATw4 - 51#s in stock size
Firestone Destination AT2/ Bridgestone revo - WOL
BFG ko3 - size not available, too heavy
Michelin, yoko geolander - similar to Contis above, I prefer the look of the Contis
MT baja boss at, general grabber - love the look but expect the noise level to be similar to Nitto Ridge Grapps

Would appreciate everyone's input on this decision. Thanks in advance!

I have had the Yoko Geolandars for about 28k miles and still like them. The Continental TCs were my second choice.

I’ve got the 275/65/20 SL Recons (so 47 ibs.). Perhaps it’s because I’m 54 and can’t hear- but I notice no discernible difference in road noise versus the stock Hankooks.

As far as weather, I admittedly am always in 4A (at least) in rain or snow, but I am perfectly satisfied with accelerating and stopping in these- and very little wear after 20k miles. We got 3.5 inches of snow here in under an hour back in March that I had to be out in- roads were atrocious (for this part of the country)- and I had no problems whatsoever.

When I combine that with almost no hit to gas mileage (I have a Powerboost)- I doubt I’ll be switching tires whenever these wear out:

BFG T/A KO2/3s are great tires, but they are louder and get worse mileage than the factory touring tires.

I had the Hancooks and replaced them about 25k miles on the clock as winter was coming and I felt their wet weather performance was fading.

I run Michelin Defender LTX MS2 now. No adverse effect on mpg. Grip is good in wet weather. We had no snow last winter at all.

Maybe consider Falken Rubitreks? I live in North Idaho and the shop selling/installing these have been getting feedback from customers and they have nothing but good things to say about 'em. Enough so that I may make the swap. Not as heavy or aggressive as the Wildpeaks, but just as good in the rain and the snow North Idaho gets.

I have LT Revo 3s plus sized to 34.1" (LT 275-65-20) running 40f 38r. They come in pretty light for being LT at 52lbs. I believe the range hit comes from overly aggressive profiles of the side walls like those found on nitto ATs. It's a firmer ride than factory tires which is a positive as the factory tires are far too soft and roll under cornering way too easy. I got a deal on the tire/wheel package basically buy the wheels at a discounted price and the tires were free. Made a post on it here

The factory 32.9" tire just isn't big enough to fill out the wheel wells, especially if you level the front end. Being a piggyboost and the tires being a light LT, I couldn't speak to how they'd perform in a 5klb or lighter trim, but mine with typical loadout and me behind the wheel ranges 63-6400lbs are great (and I'm picky). Your truck with you in it also weighs 6klb.

Tire racks comparison https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=240 which reveals them besting a 3 peak competitor in snow despite not wearing a 3 peak badge

Thanks. Seems like these are pretty similar to the Contis im looking at. Certainly something to consider.

Interesting. They look very similar to the wild peak at3w s I had before. Falkens website lists them at 3.5 for noise, similar to the new wildpeak 4ws. Has your experience been that these are a quieter on road tire?

Yes. However, I have not had these tires for their full lifespan. When I drove with these on a work truck, they were quiet. The Wildpeaks have been my go-to since...forever, and they start to get very loud as they wear. Dunno if that is addressed with the AT4s. But I am confident the Rubitreks would be quieter than the AT3s with equal amounts of wear. This echos what I've heard at the local shop from both techs and customers alike. Sorry for making your tire decision harder!

No reason to be sorry, this is why I asked this forum! I would have never looked at these to begin with. But based on what you are telling me they give me the more rugged look with the quiet all weather I'm looking for. Might just be the ticket!

Interesting, great write up and testing! May need to look into this option as well. Surprised a 52# tire didn't impact MPG more.

I have been quite pleased with the 275/60R20 Nitto Nomad Grapplers I put on my 2024 KR. - They settled in quickly and barely made an uptick in noise over stock. They are highly rated/reviewed on TireRack and are a 3-peak on-road all-terrain tire.
