  1. New guy and potential F-150 5.0 owner

Not 100% sure on the oil pump belt thing, but this is a 2015 we bought new for work and is used to make short 5-10 minute trips across town and back, then sits for another day or two and the occasional 40 minute trip here and there. Only has about 30,000 miles, but I gotta believe those are not...
  2. New guy and potential F-150 5.0 owner

Had a 5.0 F150 for about 120,000 miles. Have a 2.7 extended cab at work for the last 10 years. Currently own a PowerBoost Hybrid 3.5. You better test drive the different engine options. Seat of the pants the 2.7 feels like 5.0 power until you get up to 60-70 mph then the 5.0 takes over. The...
  3. Humming/Grinding Causes/Thoughts

So then on these model years (22 and beyond) the front half shafts and driveshaft are spinning all the time which would be the same as a 2021 model with EIWE's with 4A engaged. Everything is connected except at the transfer case?
  4. Excellent Powerboost Transmission / Hybrid System Explained - Video

This also leads me to believe the transmission fluid gets extra duty to cool the stator that he said gets pretty hot. I think I will continue to do my partial drain and refill of fresh fluid every 20-30k miles or so.
  5. Intelligent climate control for comfort and humidity management

I can't disagree with you. My point was only that the hit to your MPG will be negligible.
  6. Intelligent climate control for comfort and humidity management

Running the AC on a Powerboost should not affect gas mileage at all. The compressor is electric and is not driven by a belt.
  7. A cautionary tale

Agreed. My house panel shares ground and neutral and my PPOB would always ground fault, so when I wired my cord connector I did not connect the ground wire to the ground . Just the two power leads and the neutral. Powers my house no issues.
  8. Powerboost Transmission Fluid Dipstick Fill Level

Or just put an old school dipstick in it. Geez! If the thermostat wasn't open that might explain it, but I couldn't get it much hotter than 185. Would be nice if someone from Ford engineering who understands the design could chime in.
  9. Powerboost Transmission Fluid Dipstick Fill Level

Yes a little rough shifting at times. I removed as much as I could using a hand held pump (about 6 quarts) and added about 4 quarts of fresh fluid to bring it down a little and I could feel that it smoothed it out some. I also know now what the level should be when cold so I don't have to...
  10. 4 Low to get over a rock and BAM!, something broke and now the front wheels don't drive

Pleasantly surprised that Ford covered the repair after the powertrain warranty ran out?!
  11. 7.2kW - Continuous?

I ran my house when we lost power for almost 3 days continuous pulling between 2KW and 6KW depending on whether the A/C was on or not. Didn't miss a beat. Engine would just come on for a bit, then shut off for a bit. Burned approx. 8 gallons of fuel. Drove the wife's car to work. Neihbors...
  12. New Fuel Pump Recall

100% Someone got a bonus for saving Ford $1.00 per unit on a different supplier.
  13. Iwe, photo and problem

Very interesting and disappointing that everything is made of plastic. Trying to understand this system...will this eventually fail totally thus rendering 4WD at that wheel inoperative? Mine is making that growling noise (driver side) when cold, and when I shift to 4A it goes away for a while...
  14. Is this a normal amount of blow by in my catch can!?

100% normal. You should check it more often, especially in cooler weather.
  15. 2024 PB Transmission

I was not really happy with the way my trans was shifting, and after reading many posts regarding the factory fill on the transmission fluid was either too full or not full enough, I decided to go through the steps to check mine. It was WAY overfilled. I sucked out as much as I could using an...
  16. Brown-ish coolant in main reservoir, normal?

Normal. Mine was the same and a little low at about 28k miles. I topped it off and just check it periodically. Hasn't needed any more in 20k miles.
  17. Pro Power Onboard 7.2 kW Teardown Photos?

Ok. The screws were not obvious, but maybe the drop in bed liner was covering them up? I'll have to take another look.
  18. Pro Power Onboard 7.2 kW Teardown Photos?

How did you get that panel off?
  19. Powerboost ProPower, good boy. Powered house after wind storm

I went approx 48 hours on about 1/3 of a tank. Running air conditioning in the house intermittently with water heater (not at the same time!) 2 refrigerators and lights/tv etc.
  20. Got to test a 5.0 coming from a 2.7

The Butt-o Meter doesn't lie. The peak torque RPM is the kicker. I have had them all, and I agree the 2.7 and the 5.0 feel very similar. Also, the rear end gearing will make a big difference as well. 2.7 EcoBoost: 325 hp at 5000 rpm, 400 lb⋅ft at 2750 rpm 3.5 EcoBoost: 400 hp at 6000 rpm...
