I’ve never seen this either. Maybe try another cable? If it’s an iPhone with a lightning connector I would get an Apple branded cable. If it’s a usbc phone, make sure it’s something high quality and not something generic from Amazon or a dollar store.

I haven’t seen that. Are you still using CarPlay? Or the sync4 usb media source?

you can still use CarPlay but just leave it as a wired only connection. You may need to remove and reconnect your phone but just select the “no” option when your iPhone asks about wireless
Thanks I didn’t know this. Will give it a shot.

I started using CarPlay and that worked. No more error codes on the screen but it drives me nuts automatically connecting every time I get in the vehicle without the cord plugged in and my Bluetooth off…

I believe CarPlay is some kind of WiFi connection? If your phone wirelessly connects to CarPlay then you aren’t getting the higher quality wired audio connection. You need to turn off that setting in your iPhone settings.

when you remove and reconnect your phone, there should be a popup on your phone asking if you want to allow wireless CarPlay. You need to select the “no I don’t want to do that” option

I’m not getting that prompt on my iPhone. It just automatically connects. I’ll turn off WiFi and see if that makes a difference. I only want it to connect when I plug in the cord.

Disable wireless app projection from your truck and it won’t connect wirelessly again unless you turn it back on

Go to settings -> General -> Carplay and delete your F-150 from the list.

Then plug your phone back into your truck through the front usb ports under the radio. You should get the following two prompts on you phone:

Ford F-150 B&O Unleashed finally fixed for $329? 1708279786847

You want to allow this first one.

And select "Use USB Only" for the second prompt:

Hey Gary-
He is a professional installer at a local stereo shop and does side work for people. I prefer him doing the work here at my house so if he has any Qs he can ask me quickly. Would also prefer to put money directly in his pocket than uninvolved, managers, sales guys etc.

We are 20 mins from Hauser and were looking at a house up there recently. When you are in the neighborhood, look me up. Would be good to shake hands with ya.

on your iphone
go to settings scroll down to General
scroll down, select Carplay
click Ford F-150 ( most likely what it will say)
click the slider left to off

carplay still works if you plug it in. just not wirelessly

Not sure how I missed this thread and it is already at 7 pages. Great solution @JJSnell !!!! I have the regular 8 speaker non-unleashed. I probably need to pull the center speaker wire to start. I was in a cheap hyundai sante fe rental car last week and it sounded killer compared to my F150....hell, even my 2010 honda odyssey EX sounds better than my 21 F150 B&O.

Power dude.
Maybe it's just a preference thing. For me, while I'm in my vehicle, I don't want to feel like I'm at a concert with the stage in front of me. I prefer to feel like the music is all around me, with no definable location. My taste in music is very unrefined and I wasn't a concert junkie, in fact I'm fine driving home in silence after a long day at the office. So maybe this preference is just me, but I'm hoping to boost the rear speakers a bit to fill the cab with sound, but not so much that it becomes directional from the rear.

You've somewhat contradicted yourself.

If you've boosted the rear speakers anything above oem you've done just that, moved the bias towards the rear and made them more locatable.

I can honestly say, I've never wanted to stand with my back to a concert.

There is no true surround in these vehicles. So with that being said, nothing should originate FROM the rear, especially music.

I must be missing the point here.

I can just as easily amplify the front and then raise the rear to sustain the fill.

I installed my JL powered 8’s yesterday with the sounds good keyloc and am very pleased. Fills the bass nicely and was super easy to install. I think I’m done with my system for now. This thread has been extremely helpful thanks to all.

You are missing the point, drastically. But I won't tell you that. I will let all the home theatre people who've spent thousands on "Surround Sound". Or the companies that have coined and perfected that phrase, or SONOS, THX, or Atmos, or... quite frankly, "Dolby Surround Sound".
I guess everyone should rip out any factory speaker ever installed behind the front seat cuz to you, it just doesn't make sense ...

LoL, right before bed... Thanks for the laugh, good way to end the day.

I didn't contradict myself. I said that, today I hear almost all sound coming from the single speaker in the middle of my dash. It sounds like a nice radio hooked up to one speaker. It IS very directional today, all coming from a single speaker in my dash. I am not trying to increase the rear speaker to the level that all I hear is from the rear. I want to increase the rear to balance out the front so that I hear music coming from all around me, not just one single speaker in my dash.

I get in my BMW and don't notice where the sound is coming from. I get in my wife's Grand Cherokee and the McIntosh system fills the cabin with no directionality. I get in my truck, and it's all coming from the middle of the dash. All three vehicles have the their factory "high end" radio options. I'm not trying to put the stage behind me. I want to be standing on the stage with the sound all around me.
