Anybody else that recently got a 2024 B&O Unleashed equipped truck that had the old 18 speaker system? I had both the old 18 speaker version on my 22 Plat and now the new 14 speaker version on my 24 KR.

I vastly prefer the new system. Like its night and day. For one, my old one did that poltergeist level freak out periodically, which sucked. Second, the new one - even with 4 fewer speakers - has much better sound and is quite a bit louder. For me, this was a significant upgrade. I used to ride with my volume set on 7. Now it is set on 4. Pretty much the same volume. Bass is rich and the mid is clear. Very happy.

Did not have the 18-speaker system. However, I can confirm a routine use with the volume at 4-5 and, "cranking it up", between 7-10.

I will say, although all frequencies appear to be clean and clear, the system is bass-biased.

I love mine. I could use a bit more deep bass but overall it’s very solid. It made a huge difference getting the Sounds Good Stereo block off plates as well. Midrange really ramped up.

Having had the 18 speaker system in my last two trucks my observation of the 14 speaker system is just like yours. I feel like it is a good step above the 18 speaker system.

Very happy to hear this because I will be trading in my 18-speaker 2021 Lariat 502a with a 2024 Lariat 502a and only recently realized the speaker count dropped to 14 (no more headrest speakers).

Well I took delivery of my 2024 502a Lariat today with the 14 speaker B&O Unleashed and it is a noticeable downgrade over the 18-speaker system I had in my 2021, even after playing around with the sound settings. Not having the headrest speakers is definitely a difference as well. The 18 speaker system has much fuller cabin sound. I can’t believe anyone would say the 14 speaker system is an upgrade.

Pretty disappointing and there are a few things about the 2024 interior that feel cheaper than the 2021. This 14 speaker system is definitely one of them.

After owning a 21 Limited and 22 Platinum Lightning I can definitely say this 24 King Ranch is much better with the sound system.

I think it very possible that the early 2021s B&O system was better than the 2022-2023s. For one, those headrest speakers were utterly useless in my 22 Plat. Like completely. The sound in the system just wasn't very good. Nor was it any better in my friend's 22 KR. There many examples of things that were better in 2021 before supply chain hell was unleashed on the world. I am more than willing to entertain that the 18 speaker B&O was a victim to being forced to use cheap components to keep units moving. IMO the 14 speaker system seems much more like what is advertised.

Could be but my original build date at KCAP was late April 2021 however it wasn’t built until the last week of June and not released to the body company until July 15. Didn’t take delivery until late August…. so I was heavily impacted by the plant shutdowns lol.

The 14 speaker isn’t garbage it’s just not as good as the 18 I had. Oh well.

More speakers aren't always better especially if they're not using the DSP for anything which it appears they are not. Without proper timing, the speed of sound is presenting you a mess of a sound stage. The 2 head rests of the 18ch system are 1 channel in that each left speaker is the same channel and each right speaker. The soundstage can't really be setup well when it's configured like that. Having a specific seating position can really change the overall quality of the sounds.

When you configure a DSP and you start timing speakers, It doesn't take many inches before you can hear it changing and warping the sound stage. I setup at least 3 presets for driver focused, centered, and passenger focused. It never leaves driver focused but for a short time.

Just wanted to throw in my 2 cents , I have the 8 speaker unleashed and I was primarily using Amazon music hd and thought the power / sound was low. After reading numerous threads , I got the Tidal app and holy hell what a difference !!
I had already adjusted truck settings some and played same song back to back from Amazon to Tidal and there is a massive difference

Thing is begging for some JL C1-650se up front with C1 650x in the rear doors (or switch to the C1-650 component set putting the tweeter just behind the upper 'cup holder'). Their 1" tweeters fit in the OEM tweeter location perfectly.

Curious if you are using wired or wireless connection for tidal. I am just starting to look at options
I was doing wireless , will do some more testing though vs wired to see if I can tell a difference ..Will report back

I'm trading in my 22 Lariat with the 18-speaker Unleashed system for a 24 Lariat with an 8-speaker system. I just compared the 2 side by side at the dealership and the 8-speaker is significantly louder (dare say better?) than the 18-speaker system. I would say 30 (MAX) on the 18-speaker was equal to 15 on the 8-speaker.

I'm not sure if the 8 is actually better than the 18, but at least I feel better about losing 10 speakers after hearing both of them head-to-head.
