Well this is weird, I got this notification today. I'm up to date minus the BCM, ACM and the Door modules. Any idea what this is?

So Ford is giving expected time estimates like the cable company now? You might be able to leave your house in 5 minutes or 3 hours, we really can't give you a better time window than that!

Every OTA update tells me 45 minute downtime now. Reality is about 10 minutes for each one I've had successfully install.

I have not seen the above message but I have auto updates turned off so I think the wording is different as I need to give permission for every update then go in and tell it to install it.

It's really hilarious that 6.8.0 is an IPC update that installs in less than 10 minutes when sent OTA. and it takes at least 45 minutes in FDRS if your lucky, and 5 hours for the unlucky ones! ?

I'm just amazed that 6.8.0 is the first ever successful IPC OTA for my 21 job 1 truck. I don't know what Ford did to make it work, but I'm impressed.

Yes, Sir thats if FDRS even installs it correctly, my last IPC in FDRS was screwed so badly that Jesse had to remote in and load the files for me in forscan. 8 hours all in! Thank God for Jesse, without him we would all be screwed.

Congrats to all who have had OTA updates! I have had zero, zilch, nada, not a one, OTA updates since purchasing my truck in Nov 2023... updated via FDRS in mid Dec, and zero OTAs since... hmmm.

I think this is mostly due to the transfer speed of the CAN connection using the mongoose cable. We really dont know how long it takes the OTA to download because we never see that just the "install" or in FDRS speak the "Configuraiton" stage, which typically goes by really quick.

Its all the writing of the file over the CAN connection that takes a lifetime.

I thought the OTA process sends over the Ethernet which is likely much faster transfer rate than CAN.

Download from internet to truck is usually quick, then it is immediately available to install with an inhibit from wherever it puts it on download.

My 6.8.0 was maybe 30 minutes total from walking outside turning on screen to accept the download, telling it to install, to finished notification in FordPass.

As I said before I don't know how Ford made my truck finally accept IPC updates via OTA but it sure beats the 6 hour process I ran multiple times last year.
