One good thing about B&O Stereo System.... (sigh)

I really enjoy the B&O 18 speaker system, set to surround so the system does the work - fade to the rear a bit and let it rip. Some sources and stations are better than others no doubt - but at 12 and above the sound really comes alive. That being said, the last update switched ALL of my saved stations back to what I had done say four months ago - that 30 minutes of programming and positioning the stations I enjoy was completely wiped out! That is a no go in my book ...
I am an audiophile at home and have some really cool stuff, but have found over time that doing the same in a car (vs stock) is just a pain in the rear AND expensive ...

Just pop off the panel that has the B&O icon, then unscrew the speaker, disconnect and replace.

I am thinking of putting a simple volume pot in line and see if I can make a fader that way.

OK, forget the fader, I went out did as above, literally 3 minutes, popped the cover with my fingers, a 7 mm socket to remove the speaker and disconnect the plug.

A game changer. forget the fader, I am raising a glass to toast @dmac. this is way better.
now I actually hear sound from the speakers in the ceiling and headrests. so what if my relative level may be an 11 instead of 7 or whatever it was. the balance and stereo separation are 100% better.

have yet to try nav, but siri still talks thru the other speakers. thing is, this is a 3 minute reversal if I change my mind. but for now i am SOLD. I have the B/O SEVENTEEN speaker system and I love it !

Your audio source makes a world of difference. The radio and most streaming services can’t make use of the B&O Unleashed. Apple Music with the audio set to lossless is a gamechanger as well.

Keep in mind you will need to have CarPlay set to work only when your phone is plugged in, otherwise the compression from using Bluetooth takes away any and all advantages you might have from selecting lossless.

LoL, all you guys rippin' out center channel speaker and I just bought an upgrade for it...
It got delivered, but the amp I also ordered looks like it might not make the Wednesday install date...


Would rather have a JL replacement, but they don't make...

so thats how that panel comes off? my drivers side front corner seems to be NOT attached firmly as it pokes up a bit

i will go done the rabbit hole on play back quality or lack of signal input from streaming and radio stations

I was able to down load the B O demo usb that snakebitten posted up...that little usb with the songs they put on there is a game changer for playback... its an eye opener and really lets the system come alive IMO for an old deaf guy
i stopped wearing my hearing aid a few months back due to an ....wait for it ....EAR problem so i tend to ramp up the system to 18 to 22 but as of late the same streaming via pandora i am at 12-16 and its LOUD and clear
i run music from 60s to 80s rock, country, a bit of disco, hard rock and some 90s stuff
doobie brothers, dire straits, joan jett , ac dc , southern rock, dean martin, etc.
so my system gets a wide range
pandora has pretty good playback qualities, better than xm, and MUCHO better than radio
my usb of 30 something gb of music is also very clear, if i use the CD to burn the music to it vice an online site
but none even touch the B and O demo file ....its like you sitting in the orchestra pit .

My Unleashed system really woke up after a DSP update. Anything above about 13 now is painful.

It costs money to get access to the license and requires a $600 cable. Rugedraw has a program where you can basically borrow one of his for the cost of shipping.

Lol yeah, FDRS is the dealership software. It has a high cost of entry if you don’t already have the equipment. You’ll need a mongoose cable (~$500) plus a FDRS license ($50 for 3 days) to play with it. You’ll also want a 20 amp battery and power supply like the Clore.
There are loaner mongoose cables here in the forum that you can put yourself on a waitlist for though. Lots of people do that then just pay for the license and get their truck fully up to date.

Honestly until last week I hated the 18 speaker system. I tried the music app QOBUZ a suggestion from another form member and it honestly has me blown away. Do yourself a favor and download it and download your favorite albums over wifi in the Highest REZ quality and be prepared to have your mind blown. My stereo is completely stock outside of a bunch of sound deadening everywhere. Doors back wall under the seats, etc. I rarely go past 23 on the volume knob. Please try and report back. I have since cancelled my spotify and have convinced several friends to do the same.

I find no way to force an update. My BO sounds weak as well, except for the front speaker. Absent unplugging the front speaker, how do I update?

Everyone talks about dealers not doing this stuff because they cannot get paid. Has anyone tried to pay them yet? I will do that if I can get my sound up and running.
