Umm, that’s exactly what a truck length pull is. It was ahead by one full truck length, because they started even and when the race ended, the 5.0’s nose was even with the PB tail gate
I was always told a “car length” is when you can fit a car between the nose of the rear and back of the leader

Well yea, that’s a car length “gap”. But if they start even, and the nose of one is at the tail of the other, that’s still “one car’s length”. Certainly neither truck got “gapped” but it was a truck length pull due to how far back said truck was from the other.

All I know is we have fast trucks that are surprisingly fun to drive.

But how fast can it get your fridge and tv going? Lol. Don’t take this too seriously - WE ALL MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE.
No TV or fridge for me, I need to make a bonfire and put the food in the snowy bed to keep it from expiring :(

Here is a power to weight ratio comparison for the engineers out there:

I owned two very similar 21+ F150's (5.0 and Powerboost)

Both trucks had: no sunroof, 4x4, 18" wheels, standard e-locker axle for the engine, platform running boards, no bed liner, no step. The 5.0 did have fx4 which probably added 40lbs.

The following weights were deducted from the payload sticker on each truck.
PB
430hp / 5685lbs = 0.0759 hp/lb

5.0
400hp / 5053 lbs = 0.0791 hp/lb

PB Options:
(lariat 500a 4x4 with b&o, trailer tech, chrome running boards and Copilot assist)

5.0 Options:
(Xlt 302a 4x4 with Chrome pkg, console, FX4, Trailer Tow, Copilot 360 Assist)

AND If you want to do this For an xl Base 4x4 Supercrew:
Screenshot 2023-12-14 at 10.45.33 AM.png

PB
430hp / 5517lbs = 0.0779 hp/lb

5.0
400hp / 4912 lbs = 0.0814 hp/lb

The 5.0 (or the 3.5 ecoboost) is the winner again.

I've been saying this for a while, but the Ecoboost is probably fastest engine in the lineup from the factory assuming all the same other options. Similar power to weight ratio as the coyote, but you get way more torque way earlier. The only way a coyote compares in speed is with E85.

I think if ford had put a 2x heavier battery in the powerboost, it would become obvious that it's not as fast as the others. (Bigger electric motor, maybe would help, but at some point cost an engineering time have limits)

BTW ford engineers were smart and gave out a (relatively) lightweight lariat PB to Motortrend/C&D to get acceleration times, vs the fully decked out Long Bed King Ranch 5.0 with 20's motortrend tested.

Not trying to knock the PB. It RIPS from a dig and is an awesome platform. Without covid used car prices, I would still be driving it.
Is the total curb weight stickered somewhere on the truck? I’d like to see where I’m at

Don’t worry, I’m jealous of the 5.0 for one main reason - I don’t have one. My last v8 was my wife’s 2014 grand Cherokee and what a pleasure to drive that was. Regarding the different ways to option an F150, who hasn’t built at least 50 different combinations? I know i have, even after I bought my new truck. I think I have a problem.

Yup. Get your GVWR then subtract the big Payload number.

In this case it's 7050-1979 = 5071 lbs

I want to see two more versions of this:

- Tuned PB vs tuned 5.0.
- Tuned PB vs SC'd 5.0

A tuned PB should win handily. An E-85 tune 5.0 picks up some solid gains (440-450 HP at the crank), but that still pales in comparison to what a forced induction tune can add. To run an N/A 5.0 against a tuned PB you’ll be looking at more aggressive camshafts, intake manifold, and headers/exhaust at the bare minimum.

Yours is an STX SCab. That is what I expect it to weigh. The Crews especially loaded Lariat+ can get quite porky. This is what mine weighed with 33" aftermarket tire/wheel setup, ME and a 1/2 tank of gas in it.

A tuned PB would straight out murder any N/A tuned 5.0. A SC'd 5.0 would kill any PB even with upgraded turbos.

I guess that explains the 5.2 second 0-60 I got in E-85 LOL. Whole lot of motor and not much weight.
