Even when the update is via CAN bus, the files are downloaded and saved locally; it’s just that they saved to the hard drive only prior to installation instead of to the hard drive and then copied to the USB. You can see the files downloaded for both CAN bus installation and USB installation at C:/ProgramData/Ford Motor Company/FDRS/fdrs/data/vehicle_software.
I've tried looking for the files and never found them. I was told the reason why was because of what I said before. I plan on doing some updates tomorrow since I'm off and I got one of my Mongooses back in the mail yesterday. I will check this out and circle back to this.

You’ll find knowing where the downloaded files are useful. It’s a good way to verify exactly what was installed.

I actually save all of them to my NAS. It’s been helpful before when someone needed to side load a borked module.

Uninstalled 38.5.5, did a fresh install of 37.4.7 and got logged in without issues, must have been an issue with the newest version somehow, thanks for everyone's help.
I am trying trying to login using 38.5.7 and am getting the same issue you had on 38.5.5 - cannot login to FDRS but passes all network diagnostics. Where can I find an older verion?

I do something similar with as-built data. I save it before and after every update in case I mess up a configuration.

Any particular reason you may know of why one file would fail to upload during the latest APIM? The update went away in FDRS, but it did fail one line item. Going back to the downloaded files, the one in question isn't there either..

**looking back on the usb, I don't even see it listed on the update. The APIM had -BB and
-CB failed to load IIRC**

Thinking back on when I was trying to download the files to view them, it was for someone else's truck while not being plugged into the truck itself with the Mongoose. I hit the "download" button in the SW updates tab for the module in question, and I didn't find any files downloaded in any of the subfolders for Ford in my laptop.

Not too sure that that would make a difference. Early on, the mistake a lot of people made when they went looking for the update files is that they looked in the Ford Motor Company files under the Program Files directory instead of the ProgramData directory.

So trying to do an APIM upgrade and running into an issue.

Loaded the uSB to the computer and it copied all the files.
FDRS said to turn ignition ON, Engine On. I did.
FDRS said to insert USB drive into the vehicle USB slot and I should see a message about it no removing it.

Well I inserted the USB drive in the slot in the center console by the wireless charging mat. When I did I got a message that said “Charge Only USB device”.

It’s been inserted for about 30 minutes and I can tell it’s not reading it because the flashy lights on my usb stick are off.

Any ideas here?

Same thing happened with the GWA update on a different USB drive but it was only 1MB so I did it over CAN.

Thanks, unfortunately I can login using the version 34.5.3 with my username and password but I immediately get an error saying that version is no longer supported and that I must download the newest version. When I downloaded and install 38.5.7 I cannot log in and get a failure on the FDSP Connection and Login Server when I run network diagnostics (Internet & License Server pass)

CMR takes a while, too. IPC updates that do not go through and have to be CAN'd in are the most painful ones of all as far as time goes.
CAN updating the IPC is the worst! Make sure you have a six pack of your favorite beer to enjoy while waiting for this long slow process to complete.
