Also, what’s the Securicode situation for the 2024+ trucks?

I know Ford has been ditching this useful feature for the last couple years on several models.

It’s probably the feature that I use the most on my 2001 Lincoln and my 2021. I won’t say what for, though those who know, know! ?

I suspect we're going to see it as a paid feature for all 21 and up. They want post-sale revenue generation and the only way to do it is to add features people will actually pay for. If they're wise, they'd negotiate with insurance directly and get them to pay for it. The last one didn't actually lock people out of the APIM once they gained access. Doesn't even take 20 seconds to delete your phone out of the vehicle. This 'new' system won't allow that.

Just wait until they make a LEO remote shutdown feature, only $1k per use. Great opportunity for remote TCU power-down switches.

Very disappointed that I can't get an XLT or Lariat supercrew 6.5' bed with the sport appearance package. I just don't want excessive chrome! Plus a '24 XLT with similar options to my '21 is just over $10K more. No way! Ford is making it tough to stay loyal!!
All vehicle prices went up between 21 and 24… heck, EVERYTHING is more expensive today that just a few years ago, a 6oz sirloin from Texas Roadhouse was 10.99 and now it’s 15.99…. thank you Bidenomics and Bidenflation!! If you actually compare them with the 23 models, several configurations are now cheaper. The only thing missing on a 302a is the option for the B&O sound system, big whoop. Otherwise a ’24 model 302a with my preferred options is now roughly $3000 cheaper than a ‘23.

This is what I don't care for my 2021 came with a 30gal tank. Now the PB has a 23gal tank and no option for anything else. (selecting 36gal removes the PB drivetrain)

No that is a mistake, the PB still gets the 30.6 gallon tank.

Agreed on the inflation, but the lack of options for a 6.5’ bed is very disappointing!

Well I have to admit I thought the new tailgate was kind of a cheesey gimmick type thing. I'm 53yrs old and the tailgates through the decades have suited me fine, even the 'old man' step tailgate... all good...
But then I had to unload 4x bags of cement today... and as stated I'm not 28yrs old anymore... I lazily rolled the bags to the edge of the tailgate with residual powder spilling all over my (up til now), pristine bedliner... anyway, that shorter reach right into the bed I guess would be a good thing for old guys and cement bags....
:)

Inflation at it worst was 19% the price of vehicles have went up 30%. As long as people keep buying these over priced cars Ford will happily keep raise prices.

Ford only cares how they look on the stock market.
If your input costs increase 20%, your customer pays it and then some. There's always some margin in there.

All publicly traded companies chase their stock prices. That's what the CEO's bulk of pay is based on -- stock performance. Record profit? Buy shares back. Low workload? layoffs! ... and the CEO is rewarded with $$$

It’s amazing to me how quickly people forget this portion here, and even more amazing to me that some people never learn it at all

Guess I really have a unicorn now with my 21 Lariat. Bench leather seat, 2wd, lights in the bed without the tailgate, temps on the knobs, led license plate lights... lol

It would be great if the truck manufacturers focused more on the user interface for people driving their pickups. My Chevy truck had the 2WD/4WD indicator lamp hidden from the driver while driving but it did have paddles that could be used to change stations or the volume and other functions without having to take ones eyes off the road.

My 2022 F-150 is terrible with all the little buttons on the steering wheel needed to change any setting. Even worse are the changes that require going into a menu structure which is OK if the truck is parked but not safe to use while driving.

There should be programming to allow the owner to disable features like the collision avoidance braking (that does not work and makes the truck less safe as it is currently programmed) and lane keeping assistance and other "features". Ford is by no means the only company with programmers that are unable to design for real world use but as more programming is added to vehicles to increase profits there needs to be a lot more thought given to real world use cases and quality control and allowing programming to be disabled by owners.

There is also the aspect of how visible the road ahead and areas around a truck are without resorting to cameras. My 2022 Supercrew cab has the poorest visibility of the surroundings of any pickup truck I have owned over the past 50 years. It would be terrible for use off the road where cameras do not take the place of being able to see what is around the truck. This aspect is also ignored by 100% of the truck reviews where the focus is on how many cup holders and USB ports in the cab.

It is unfortunate that the pickup manufacturers focus entirely on horsepower and ignore real world fuel economy. Having a hybrid pickup that improves on fuel economy by only 5% as with the Ford Powerboost truck demonstrates this perfectly. If one is not actively towing a 10,000+ lb trailer it really does not matter for the truck's performance and utility.

Can't argue against ford's programming being hot garbage. Hopefully those tesla guys they brought in turns it all on its head.
