It also doesnt help that dealers are milking these lightnings. I saw one local dealer with “extras” installed including $995 for a lojack system. On a Lightning. Insert cry laughing emoji here.

Id drive a Tacoma on 34's!

Maybe they looked like women? LOL
Just make sure it’s regeared to 4.88 or 5.29s!

I suppose it’s possible that some Mustang owners might have had too much Bud Lite. It’s hard to be sure these days! ?

While I have never personally had an issue at an EA charging station aside from having a Bolt using the 350 charger, I have also only used them a handful of times. I do 99.9% of my charging at home. If I had to rely on and pay for public charging I would not own an EV as it wouldn’t pencil out (I currently spend $300 less per month for my electricity to charge vs what we were paying in gas for 24k miles per year). I have heard of the EA horror stories though and agree that off CCS infrastructure would have been better it would have stayed the NA standard like was originally announced.

I would have pulled the trigger on this if it was an option when I purchased my truck. As others have stated, I feel that manufacturers need to expand hybrid technology in thier lineups prior to transitioning to full electric.
I agree that more Hybrid choices are a good thing, but honestly it wasn't that long ago that when you heard the word Hybrid, you thought Prius. And rightfully so.
But today? Hybrids are everywhere and there are an amazing array of choices. So I believe most manufacturers are expanding their Hybrid lineup as a transition to EV.
I also believe Hybrid technology will be the majority before EV will. Or put another way, at some point in the future there will be a statistic quoted that for the first time in history ICE-only personal vehicles will no longer be the majority. But on that same very day, EV's won't be either.

On another similar note, going EV for the first time is one thing, but going ONLY EV is quite another.
I agree with the fella above about using an EV for the cheaper portion of miles that I drive. But this morning I had a passenger for about 50 miles and took the Powerboost for that errand. It's a dang luxury yacht.
But then I needed to run to the airport/office for some tasks alone. For that ~50 miles I took the cheap but fun EV.

Different tools for different missions.

I don't take the EV on distances longer than my home base charge range is. I will however stop at a charger on the way back if convenient to tap into the ~$1k in free charging I have through various programs. Currently they're just too hit and miss to rely upon. As an errand runner they can't be beat. The F150 gets taken on any trip of meaningful distance. Over 600 miles on a tank and of course gas stations are everywhere.

I think the sweet spot is a PHEV with a ~40 mile range with a motor powerful enough to not need the ICE, though I'm not opposed to a setup like the aviator's albeit with a larger battery and at least a 110kW motor. Given choices I'd be torn between a 5.0 and a 3.5 as the ICE power plant. 550hp and 650ftlb tq would be more than sufficient, plus the 5.0 gets a little more nod on engine braking, when combined with the e-motor regen, that'd be a combo nearly impossible to beat. Of course it goes without saying it should come with a 8499lb GVWR and the F250 sales can suck it :)

I will believe the Cybertruck when I actually see it. I know a few people who have given Tesla interest free loans for a few years now on that truck. The Ram and Chevy EV trucks on the other hand have appeal with their claimed range. Be interested to see the real world results.

Two things of note, 1 the avalanche style rear wall fold down is gone and 2, it's not an exoskeleton. Other things I believe we'll find is that it's also not going to have 3mm thick doors touted as being small caliber bullet proof due to mass and thus range. I also don't think the glass will be much to talk about either outside of being dual pane like our windows are. I also haven't seen any recent models with rear wheel steering on them so that's probably axed for now.

At this point an EV is only good for a local commuter. A local TV station reporter was able to get a Lightning to use for a trip from a Detroit suburb to Mackinaw City and back for a family vacation.
His home wasn't set up for an EV so he found a Meijer with a charging station. 4 stations of which only one was working. He had to wait an hour for that one to open. He charged to what he thought was plenty to get up there (roughly 270 miles.). He had to stop before making it up because it was using the battery way faster. Once up there the only place to charge it to come home was at a casino. It cost him $20 to get in and then $56 to charge. And again he had to stop in Bay City because I-75 was closed from a crash and he was detoured.
He said the whole trip was way too stressful worrying about finding charging stations and range concerns.

Ford F-150 F-150 Lightning Gets Nearly $10K Price Cut 20230719_081740

I park it almost every day next to the RV when I get home from the office and daily errands. (It gets about 3.9 miles per KW ~11¢)
But it's definitely NOT a road trip horse!

The Powerboost is the KINGranch? of travel and utility!

But then you can buy 4 lightly used Leafs for the price of the King. ?

Tesla lives off of government money. So much public money funneled into their Buffalo NY plant and so many broken promises on Teslas part. Huge welfare takers.

Tesla has taken plenty of government cheese. I'm not mad about it, but it is certainly true.

https://subsidytracker.goodjobsfirst.org/parent/tesla-inc
They played the game wisely. I'm referring to the 'magic' money that gets allocated to the likes of GM, ATT, banks, etc... Grabbing the scam carbon money is open to anyone. EA is another example of coming into existence by govt action. Grabbing funds open to all is funds open to all who can fulfil a need. Special federal carve outs via direct action is what I'm referring to. The administration is fighting to try and keep them from getting charging infrastructure funds, instead trying to divert it to others. Which in the case for charging, well most of the companies out there suck, or have poor chargers being capped to 50kW output, compared to others with 350kW+ capabilities.

To be clear, there's very few things that taxpayer money should go to. In the case of EA rising out of the VW emission scam, govt money didn't provide a reliable system. Tesla's privately funded system on the other hand they're opening up to more vehicles just works. The fact the govt has lost control over one of their propaganda platforms that's got nothing to do with tesla, yet is now playing games about their charger conversion is pathetic. We need much less spending and a well-chained fed govt that fears the people.
