Having vehicles on the lot should be normal. Prices going down are a good thing. Didn’t someone at Ford say that the Lightning costs less to make than an ICE F-150? If so; the Pro should be selling for even less than a 3.3 v-6 XL.

The Lightning is a sweet ride and the acceleration is excellent. I took an extended test ride in one and was impressed; especially considering that my previous EV experience was in an eTransit and it sucked in comparison. People are already bitching about large high performance EVs and my bet is that they’re going to start hamstringing them at some point. Like the 70’s when the muscle car era died and they forced most people into driving shitboxes. Europe has banned vacuum cleaners over a certain wattage. Expect them to do something similar with their road vehicles.

95% of my driving in the last three years has been less than 20 miles. Not everyone should be adopting EVs and hopefully all of the nonsense that is on the horizon gets rolled back. Synthetic fuel and hybrids are a much better solution for many applications but I’m sure that many households can benefit from a BEV as a 3rd or 4th vehicle and the more that are on the road; the longer Ford and other manufacturers can keep building V-8 trucks and cars!

I canceled my Lightning 3 months ago when my reservation finally came up. I only canceled because Ford won't build the Lightning I wanted from the get-go.
(Pro SR)

But that doesn't mean Ford lost me as a customer. I have purchased 2 Fords AFTER making the reservation and still own 3 of their vehicles.

I don't take it personally. It's just business and the Lightning didn't end up being the value equation I sought after.
For ~40K, I was intending to run the wheels off one as my daily, which would be miles my KingRanch Powerboost wouldn't have on it.

As it is, I shifted strategy and kept my eyes peeled for a cheap way to dip my toes into the EV pool (and have some fun getting to experience it), while still keeping the strategy of saving non-truck miles on the Powerboost.

Electrified cars/trucks are here and they are going to continue to develop. But the market is the market, so it'll be at the pace of supply/demand reality.

I enjoy all kinds of vehicles.

Analog (relatively) 987 Porsche
Fairly analog Mazda MX-5 ND
Current technology ICE/EV F150 Powerboost
Current Gen low tech EV (Leaf)

Everyone of them fun to drive and fascinating in their own respect.

I might have a first Gen F150 Lightning someday down the road. But it would have to be well kept and heavily depreciated. :)
Which is pretty much guaranteed to be reality at some point. Right?

(I prefer an LFP, which means that the clock hasn't even started yet)

It’s funny, I think Ford realized how disliked the Mustang Mach-E is finally. Every post on instagram and linkedin they have been bombarded with pure hatred for that CUV using the Mustang nameplate. Lately Ford has been plastering the “V8” life all over their social media. New Mustang sound clips, that new startup “excite” mode to wake up your neighbors on the GT with active exhaust. I think they are getting the message, consumers still like 8’s. Even if you give them a hybrid V8, they’ll take it. It’s just the American way.

I would have loved a Lightning if they had good range and faster charging. I really have no issues with the idea of the electric vehicle, just needs to be more convenient to own.

Don't know much about those social media sites, but the Mustang Mach-E has garnered a pretty good ownership crowd. At least a good percentage of owners seem to love their cars.

For a first ever EV from an ICE manufacturing juggernaut, it's a pretty dang good effort. And Ford has put some serious focus on the owner feedback and responded with continuous improvements.

It's overpriced, in my opinion, but it definitely has served Ford well in EV manufacturing 101 :)

A Powerboost V8 is overdue! 50% of my engine hours are from idling to keep the AC on in the desert heat. Same with every single work truck in the Southwest.

Ford knows exactly what they’re doing. They sold over a million rebadged Pintos in the 70’s. Porsche and Lamborghini are doing well selling four door vehicles. Why not cash in on the Mustang nameplate? I think all the pearl clutchers expected Ford to resurrect the Edsel nameplate or something! ?

Both those descriptions sound like Tacoma owners to me.

90% of new Mustang owners that I see are middle aged women.

I went in for an oil change last Friday. There were 6 sitting on the lot....

On a side note, hopefully the TX power grid can handle the additional loads these electric vehicles will cause.
ercot has listed 8 mw extra capacity remaining
EHEHEHEHEEHEHEEEEEE we are not on ercot thank goodness

I would probably have a Lightning right now instead of my Powerboost if they would have sold it to me at the price I expected before all the price bumps and if they didn't screw up the process of purchase ordering. There were people who reserved way after me getting their trucks in hand before I even got my reservation.

That truck would satisfy 90-95% of my vehicle needs, plus I would be able to charge it for free at work. I don't have any plans on trading for one, so we'll see how the next gen of trucks (Powerboost vs Lightning) compare. Hell my next vehicle may not even be a truck or a Ford.

I am all for EV’s but yes they are going to “eggs in one basket” for sure. These crazy 2030 no internal combustion goals will land anyone squarely in bankruptcy who chases it. Fools game. The real reason they dropped the Lightning’s price is poor sales and performance, while ICE F-150s sell in droves. The consumers have spoken, they don’t want electric shoved down their throats until it’s actually a better product. As of now it’s inferior.
Seems to me many state and national govts do not care. Consumers will get EVs wether they want to buy them, or not.
