I ran FDRS back when the update became available to enable full screen CarPlay. Was running updates for my parents explorer over the weekend and had extra time so ran mine and updated what was there. How long ago was the tailgate update released?

21M08 was May 2022.

It should have been in the updates installed previously.

This is the best location I have found to connect the negative lead to the truck. The other locations in this thread didn't work for me. I'm using the maintainer recommended.

That one is good. 10amp minimum and that one is 20amp capable, so you're good with that one. Brand of USB I don't think matters. Just get 3.0 or higher and 32GB minimum. Remember to name it something short like "sync" or "ford".

Unless it is something new that just came out, it is safe. I did mine not too long ago.

The DSP update is the one to fix the popping/static sounds coming from speakers on the B&O systems. It is safe to do, but once you run it, it will install but will not come off the list.

And on mine, it added the popping speaker "feature" that did not exist prior to the update. Grrrrrr...

Is there a way to download the APIM files (the ones that eventually get transferred onto the USB) without connecting to the truck? I am getting an error with obtaining a file so I want to try downloading from inside the house where WiFi is better.

Shoot. Tried this and my phone's hot spot but still getting a Unable to obtain software binary file error. Jesse-infotainment had helped me last time by sending me the files so I was trying to see if there was a way I could do what he did haha.

Sounds like you have a conflict with virus protection or something similar, and not a network issue. Might want to try disabling the virus protection and then see if it works.

I get a jscript error trying to update my DSM as ford's side still doesn't have it registering properly in the system and perhaps never will due the fact the XLT now has quite a few halo trim upgrades.

could be, virus protection zero day protection could be giving a false positive on the binary, depend on what package you. are running. You can always disable and try again. Also is this your personal laptop or a work laptop (those could have group policies that might interfere also).
