There is an additional small metal plate that covers the cutout in the skid plate that needs to be removed when doing oil changes. Since the oil door costs $50 and creates additional steps during maintenance, I passed. I didn't have the felt cover so I can't help with that question.

yeah, you have to remove that felt cover to do an oil change. leaving that piece off lets you drain the pan without any other steps...it's just open access.

yeah, you have to remove that felt cover to do an oil change. leaving that piece off lets you drain the pan without any other steps...it's just open access.

Just so I get right - whatever is currently there (don't know, haven't looked) covers the access to the oil and they remove the entire "shield" every time they change the oil?

so you can leave this metal shield in place and it's notched out for the oil to drip passed.

far as i know it is. I have a 22 PB and this plate is sitting in my garage as we speak. Maybe this weekend since its finally warm I might just get it on.

Mine got pretty scratched up during shipment so I decided to prime and paint the bottom this morning in hopes of preventing rust for a couple years. Tomorrow may be the day that it finally gets installed.

@Blue22 you need (4) M10x1.5x30 bolts and (4) M10 clip nuts for the sides. The others are (2) M6x1.0x30 bolts and (2) M6 clip nuts. You can order OEM Ford Parts or source the above components elsewhere. I found all mine locally at a good ole fashioned Hardware store.

So I got the skid plate (mostly) installed this morning. Ramps are certainly helpful as there is very little space under the front of the truck without them. Also, many thanks to whoever thought of the bucket idea as that made installation a breeze. One item to note is the bolts for the front which I previously thought to be correct, are not. I apologize for steering anyone in the wrong direction and I will update my previous posts to prevent spreading inaccurate information in the future. When I come across the correct Ford part number, I will update it with that information. However, aftermarket hardware can be easily sourced from most auto parts stores using the specs that @KTM753 provided above.

the "skid plate" you mentioned in your post, is that the original skid plate come with your truck's FX4 package or the Raptor shield cover used for catalytic converter protection? i'm planning on just getting the Raptor shield cover, what is is this oil door piece? is it an add-on to the existing FX4 skid plate or the Raptor shield cover?

I did not have a skid plate when I purchased my truck. I added the metal Raptor skid plate and the oil door is an additional piece that can be added to it if you choose.

From what I gather, Yes, most skip the extra oil door. Cost is similar to the whole skid plate and it's 15% the size. It also doesn't do much to prevent cat converter theft and that is why the majority of people are installing these. It's why I did.
