Thanks JEB. I'm using the recommended battery charger from Amazon and it's in the correct mode but I did have a notice pop up that said the SOC is low. I checked the charger and it's working so I told it to proceed with download.
You should be fine. But in the future, best practice is to throw the charger on the battery the night before you do an FDRS session and let the battery charge fully. Then switch to power supply mode and start your session. You do that and you’ll never see these errors. Just driving it around a lot to charge the batteries often won’t be enough to prevent SOC warnings.

Am I the only one that disconnects my charger when the vehicle is running? Am I stupid or being overly cautious? I’m not sure it’s necessary, but it makes me feel better

JEB, I charged the battery overnight. I'm thinking the battery is getting weak and might be in need of replacement but I'll try to push through these updates first.

I don't disconnect battery charger when starting the engine.

During the USB APIM update the "system updating..." prompt came up without the indexing or reading prompts and I never got the update in progress do not remove usb prompt. Since then, the system updating prompt dissappeared about 45 minutes ago nothing has happened. Anyone have a recommendation?

I’ve never seen that happen before. When you tap the upper left corner where “system updating” used to appear, does a rudimentary progress screen pop up?

Now I'm on the 6 GB APIM update.
That should lead to one more GWM and you’re done. There is a TCU update lurking out there that some ‘22s and ‘23s have gotten but I haven’t seen it for ‘21s on FDRS yet.

That’s a good theory. You managed the battery well. Shouldn’t have gotten the error.

No progress bar came up when I tried. I ended up waiting an hour and then restarting the truck after a 10 minute wait. When I started it up I immediately got the update successful logo and my sync is up to a 22 serial, so it looks like it worked

Now I'm at 22293 rev 610 with a TCU update showing.
Wow. I totally screwed up where you were. When you said you were on the 6GB, I presumed you were loading 23031. You actually were a lot further back than I thought. You still have another APIM to do. And another GWM to do to get there.

Well done. You will have more APIMs to do, depending on which version you’re on. If you press “system updating” as soon as it shows up, a progress screen will appear. It is next to useless but at least it gives you some sense that the update is still in progress and you won’t be flying quite as blind.

I only received one APIM update. How do I check what version I am on? It's currently on a lengthy IPMA update.

I believe you have to get through that lengthy update (mine took 3 hours this morning) in order to move on to GWM and APIM updates.

Correct. And if you want to know where you are right now, go to Settings, General, About Sync and look at the version. It will give you some sense of how far off of current you now are.
