Hello all. looking at a 2022 XLT with 4k miles its the dealers courtesy vehicle. has anybody ever purchased a courtesy vehicle, would this still be labeled as new. looking to make the dealer a offer just not sure what % off of sticker would be a reasonable offer.

In late 2020 we bought an Expedition that was used as a courtesy vehicle. 2k miles on it and we paid 25% less than sticker. I was happy with the deal then and still happy to this day. As far as label, ours was labeled as new. Hope this helps.

I did a bmw 535 courtesy vehicle at 20% off sticker but lease residual was as new, so it was a smoking lease deal.

It’ll be interesting to see how much they are dealing on MY22 with lower inventory?

I probably wouldn't. IMO it is like buying a rental car.

we looked at a 2022 edge titanium elite LOADED
x plan was 44 and some change it had 6k miles on it, the owner was the primary driver
they would not come any lower than x plan.. which i am eligible for anyway
in my mind 6k miles on a 22 they should be near 42K .
we passed, why should i pay full price for a 6k mile car?
the car was very clean, but you could tell it had a good bit of ass time in the drivers seat
its still sold as NEW and has full warranty minus the miles at time of sale

4k miles on a loaner...thats IMO like buying a rental and we all know how they are driven

Hello, Update, window sticker was 62,725 -5,942=56,783 that was there discount and they said they would go down another couple hundred bucks to a thousand so 55,783 is there price. For that price or close to it can get a new one. i see some ford dealers are discounting 5k off sticker, so i will wait. thank you to all that responded.

Not a bad price at all if it's under 5K miles. The only things to look out for on a service loaner vehicle when you buy one is ensuring there are no damages to the paint/body, they change the oil when you buy it, and resetting the transmission adaptive tables. The last one you can do with Forscan in about 2 min. The reason for the reset is the transmission will likely have developed some odd shifting behavior and resetting it will take care of that.

I just bought a ‘23 FCTP F150 with 1700 miles. 10K off sticker plus I got the 1500 and 1.9 because of the mileage. Also had a 4K PCO. Worked out to 20% off sticker. Perfectly happy with the truck.

I bought the '22 in my sig as an ex-dealer loaner. It was on the road from 11/22 to 3/23 and had 6k miles on it. I ended up paying just about 10k off sticker (sticker was 58 and change) after rebates/incentives and scored a 0.9% rate. If the deal works for you and the truck checks out cosmetically, then the rest of it is covered under warranty like any other new thing.

You should get a fairly decent cost savings for a lease or a purchase. My dealer routinely does this, and its how I got my previous 2 trucks before the current one. First one I had to wait until it hit 2k miles, second one it was only 500 miles.

FWIW I don't beat the crap out of rentals or loaners. The only issue is how well break in procedures were followed. My dealer locks out the hitch too, so you cant tow anything with it while its in service as a courtesy car.

It's not. they are actually very well maintained, it would be a new car, you are the first owner, gets all factory warranty etc. I almost bought one, but it was during covid and get this, they only had it like a $1000 less than a brand new one which were already marked up. So, yes, the pricing has to reflect. You can get new 23s for $10k off in some places still so the discount should be steeper (for an even older 22) or walk. It's all about the pricing but it's no different than a new car imo.

I bought a 23 loaner with 2400 miles on it. Had some scratches in the bed but was otherwise perfect. They were discounting it 9k and I had a 4k cash offer from Ford. Plus 1.9 financing from Ford. Sold as new since it had never been titled. The deal they are offering you is pretty bad, honestly. The best deals are on the leftover 23's right now. You can get 10k off sticker without even trying. Dealers are desperate to get rid on them...

Just like National Superbike said.

I bought a 2023 Demo. XLT 302A. MSRP was $64,040 and I paid $48,340. I love it. Had 5800 miles on it. Saved a ton and got the new car incentives. No regrets. Having a $4000 PCO sealed the deal.

Also bought a 2023 Explorer XLT demo for the wife. Saved almost $9500.

It's not.
It is...

you are the first owner
You are the first owner, but the two hundred ninety seventh driver.

It's all about the pricing but it's no different than a new car IMO.
To each his own. Pricing is not everything. You are the first owner of a vehicle that tens or mor drivers, whom you don't know, have driven and you have no clue how they drove it, where and what they did to it. So in essence it is exactly like buying a rental vehicle (other than you would be the 2nd "owner" in a rental, here you are the first).
And they can maintain it with golden gloves, they still don't know what's going on inside the engine and transmission.
