Yeah, unbalanced cells/stuck contacts are far more an EV issue

Well so much for that repair fixing the issue. Came back with the exact same errors and symptoms. Heading back to the dealership on a tow truck.

A week has passed and still no answers. I have a loaner but would love to have my truck back. Apparently someone from ford will be coming out to take a look at it because the dealership doesn’t know what to do.

Jeez. So frustrating.

After reading the entire thread I can’t imagine this is your issue but I believe there is a TSB and possibly an OTA update for this stop safely now message. TSB 23-2317.

Again I know yours seems almost certainly something hardware but figured I’d at least mention.

Unfortunately I am fully updated other than the small gateway update that came out since it’s been in the shop. On week three in the shop (not counting the first week they had it) with no resolution expected anytime soon.

quick update on this in the event anyone ever comes across this:

After not having my truck for about a month (dealer was great about a loaner) Ford instructed them to replace a fuse box related to the high voltage system. After this was done, I got it back and it was mostly fine for about two weeks then I got the dreaded stop safely now again. Luckily I was bringing my son to work and was near the dealership so was able to get it there without a tow. Once I parked it, I tried to start it up again but as expected it wouldn’t start.

Back in a loaner for a week now(thankfully) and started a buyback request, which I was essentially already told would be denied due to the fact that I am outside the lemon law window. fun times.

Got my truck back today. They blamed the issue on 12v battery drain on the following:

1. My pedestrian alert module being disconnected and the other modules draining the battery trying to communicate to it

2. My bluetooth battery monitor

3. My sub amp (part of the Soundsgood package)

4. My aftermarket battery (Everstart Platinum).

They also replaced the aux battery under my back seat as part of their troubleshooting.

They know more thank I do but I am a little skeptical about any of the items 1-4 being related to the issue but I am hopeful that replacing the aux battery may help. My hopefulness was somewhat validated when I reached out to Soundsgood and ran through the issue and their first suggestion was that it could be related to the aux battery.

I’ll be leaving all the electronics disconnected for a couple weeks and the pedestrian sounded connected and see how it goes because i’m willing to try anything to keep my truck out of the shop. I ordered the speaker bypass kit from MegaOhm and will go that route if I disable the pedestrian alert again and keep the module plugged in.

forgot to update. was back in the shop in less than a week. guess it wasn’t any of the things I mentioned in the last post that they blamed it on

Full month later and I finally have an update to share. The issue was diagnosed to be a wiring harness that is in limited supply. Where this changed the issue from being related to the hybrid system or powertrain, it became a non warranty repair, despite my errors showing powertrain and high voltage issues. This harness also happens to be buried in the truck and required them to remove a good portion of my front end.

Awhile back, as a result of my failed buyback request, I ended up with a customer service case where Ford made a weak attempt to help me. When i talked to them a month back they offered me a complimentary ESP to cover me if the issue came back. They ended up not following through with this, despite telling both me and the service manager at my dealership they would. Instead they offered to cover 2/3 of my repair which still left me paying almost 2K. Luckily the service manager has been great and advocated for me and got Ford to pay 100% and this time follow through with putting a complimentary premium care ESP on my truck.

I’ll share more details of the repair when I have them, but for now I’m looking forward to getting my truck back, hopefully for good this time.

A wiring harness? Not a warranty issue? How many miles you got on the truck? Unless you dmaged it, its their harness ad they were obligated too install a serviceable (& New) one, install it properly so that it wouldn't chafe on anything... Unless you're beyond the warranty limits, I don't get it. :-(

Just passed 50k miles so outside the 3yr/ 36k full warranty. If we go way back to when I first took it in for the issue I was under 36k.

If your first indication of trouble was at less then 36k, that ought to rule the repair costs. When I had a transmission noise and called my dealer, he had me report the odometer on the phone so that if perchance I went over 36k on my way in to him (115 mile trip & a week away yet) it would be covered by the first indication of a problem. I 'spose some dealers aren't as disposed to customer service... Damaged wires in harnesses can be intermittent. I've chased such things in submarine instrumentation wiring and it can drive you up a wall! The only real long term fix is likely to identify the specific wire involved and then run a parallel wire (Cabling in shipboard wiring will have unused, spare wires built in for just this reason). My take? Tell Ford it was discovered at <36K, it is not yet fixed, and they owe you a fix under the bumper to bumper rules. :) But then I'm not holding my breath...

The service manager got it all covered + helped get me the premium ESP to over me for 35k miles so I am happy with the end result. The issue was very intermittent, so your comment does make me feel better about this possibly being the final solution

 Then here's a dealer that treated you right! You might mention the dealer business name.

Got it back Friday after the repair and it’s already on the tow truck back to the dealership with the same issue…
