Does anyone struggle with the wireless charger? Mine turns on and off every couple seconds, repeatedly. Case should be fine. Alignment is fine. It’s a new phone with wireless charging.

It’s buried in a most inconvenient place, charges poorly, and caused my phone to overheat. Not worth the hassle of even trying to use it.

I haven't had a problem with mine charging on and off. I've had to fiddle with the phone placement to get it to charge. I don't fault the charger, though I wish the phone laid flat vs angled. I fault the phone design. I hate the bump out camera lenses. This causes two thin lines of contact with the charger. A flat back phone just seems to be the best design for wireless charging. Anyhow, I'm not fully impressed either so I usually plug in.

It's got everything working against it -- if you want to charge connect via USB before starting the truck so it connects via USB and not the radios. Best case wirelessly you'll just barely charge. Route a USB cable to connect and drop it into the slot between the cup holder and shifter. You can disable wifi to revert it to USB and turn wireless back on after a few seconds. Connected wirelessly you're using cellular data, wifi radio continually, bluetooth, the phone is using both CPU/GPU to render the screen, and induction charging creates heat by nature. It all adds up to a mediocre experience at best.

I have no charging issues at all.
I do have different cases, it will heat up with a leather case I have, but others aren’t an issue

I have a 22 Bronco Sport Badlands that has done the same thing since new. Dealer did software updates 2 time and made it better but it would still disconnect.

Mine had a TSB specific to using it with an Apple iPhone and disconnecting.

I ultimately ended up unplugging it so that I can use that space.

I think the F150 uses the same charging module.

My wireless charger is trash. I just plug in with a USB C cable when driving longer than down the street.

The 23 up has a new redesigned wireless charger. It works better. You can upgrade to it but you need a new bucket and charger. The new charger no longer screws in it snaps in.

It does work better. I have it in mine. The one thing that is important is the phone has to be on the charger a very specific way.

iPhone the notch needs to be towards the passenger side.

The newer charger has better ventilation and a fan.

I like how they did the charger in the 23 up Super Duty. It stands upright. It works pretty well in my truck.

I still *really* like my "Hawsa Mount" ( @Hawsa )... since it uses an Apple charger, the magnet holds great and I've never had a problem with overheating or disconnecting.
It also makes great use of the moronic recess for the shifter!

Here's a link to his writeup and pictures:
https://www.f150gen14.com/forum/threads/shifter-recess-phone-mount.13178/page-3#post-279578

And his storefront: https://www.etsy.com/listing/146807...ick_sum=20f069c9&ref=shop_home_active_1&frs=1

He used to offer a discount to folks here with the code "FORUMFRIEND" ... not sure if that still works.

is there a way to install that allows easy removal so i can lay the shifter flat to use the work surface?

Thanks for the shoutout @JediNut I'm glad to hear you're still enjoying it!

That discount is still active.

@m_bt54 no it is meant to be semi permanent and rigid to make it a good phone mount. Unfortunately that means it is not easy to allow for the shifter to fold down.

Built in wireless chargers are for the most part useless, putting out far fewer watts than the phone uses. The built in USB outlets aren't much better.
Today's MAGsafe type chargers are putting out 20w minimum and the only way you are going to get more watts is either to use the built in inverter with adapters or a suitable USB-C 12v converter to a magsafe charger.

The charger in my 23 PB is garbage. The phone has to be in the perfect spot to charge but make one tight turn and it will slide out of position and stop charging.
I stick to using a USB cable.

Welllllll
The one in the 22 f150..is or can be a pita , trying to get phone just right while driving
Mine gets hot really fast, but will charge through the otter box cover
It's my last resort as a means of charging
I use the USB port in center console to charge almost all the time, this way every thing important, like padora works

The charger in the explorer is on the center console, location and ease of access is horrible, plus it's just big enough for a phone with no cover
Neither samsung phones fit unless you take off the otter box protection
Which at our age and dexterity. Is a no no, as we drop the phones often
Mfg imo put these in as an after thought,,,,trendy 15 bucks spent.. when thst 15 coukd get under hood lights or.. dare I say. A glove box light
