Just purchased a 2025 Lariat. Shopped for a mobile office package, specifically for the OEM wireless charger. How is it possible this thing is so bad?

Samsung Galaxy S24 phone will only charge with no case. Even with a very thin case (tried multiple), it only charges for a few seconds and cuts out. Seems from the forums, this might be normal behavior. It would have never occurred to me to double-check something this simple before purchase.

Questions:
1. Is this indeed normal behavior? Can someone with a recent Samsung Galaxy phone confirm?
2. What can I do to remedy? Any known working cases? Upgrades? Mods?

Thanks all!

Don't have a Galaxy phone, but I think if the phone draws too much current it will shut of the charger. I think the Galaxy can do a fast charge so could be the issue. My truck ,21 Lariat, doesn't have the wireless charging pad, but the front USB ports will shutdown if you try to draw too much. I plugged in an Apple Magsafe wireless charger in the the front USB-C port and it would shutdown after a couple of seconds. I ran a cable from the center console storage area and it will stay charging.

Ford recently released an update for the Wireless charger.

I do know you have to have the phone on it in a very specific way for it to work well.

My iPhone does pretty well now.

The power output of the Ford wireless and the Ford USB/USBc chargers is pathetically low. The demands of current smart phones is simply to great for them. You are better off with a commercially powerful wireless charger and sourcing power off the 12v outlet. Those adapters can be found with strong outputs.

Phone cannot draw more power than the charger can supply.

Yep, I have noticed this as well. I have an iPhone and using the wireless charger on my '23 was completely useless- until recently. It's not perfect but much better than before- but as noted- phone placement seems to be a critical parameter.

My lowly XL didn't have the option of a wireless charger, so this was my solution. Works flawlessly, and the USB-C that I added supplies plenty of juice for fast charge.

So far mine has been ok the few times I used it. I have a cheap Moto Stylus phone with a thin case.

I believe the issue on have is due my iPhone case being too thick. I use a Quad Lock case With an RFID flat key in between the phone and case.

I have a 2025 and a Galaxy S25 as well as an iPhone 14. The iPhone charges without a problem. The S25 charges fine both in and out of the case when the truck is parked, and the phone shows that it is fast wireless charging. When driving, the S25 shows that it is fast wireless charging, but the battery percentage drops, and the phone warms up noticeably. This happened both before the wireless charger update was applied a few weeks ago, and since then too. I am troubleshooting this as best as I can. I put my phone down with the top of my phone in the 9 o'clock position.
