When my truck gets built I'll definitely have the ceramic done on the windshield and all the other windows. I'm not so worried about privacy but down here in Florida heat IS a real problem. I chose Iconic Silver and hope to find something that will look good with that color. I remember 10 years ago metallic tints were popular and some were pretty radical looking.

In the event that someone's loved one was injured by a driver with an illegally tinted windshield it seems like a reasonably skilled lawyer could bankrupt the driver.

Do as you will, not judging, just sayin.

That wouldn't change who is at fault. It would be like saying the following:

In the event that someone's loved one was injured by a driver with an illegally tinted windshield not wearing a seat belt it seems like a reasonably skilled lawyer could bankrupt the driver.

Do as you will, not judging, just sayin.

Also, every police vehicle in FL has tinted windshields.

I’ve got 50% on our Expedition and none on my 23.
I’ll grab a pic today around high noon and post a side by side comparison.

No issue with Registration or HCTRA Tag coming on/off.

I have ceramic tint all the way around with the windshield having clear ceramic. In Texas not suppose to have a tinted windshield but you know how that goes. Love the UV protection & keeps the cab from getting not as hot as other tints. No issues with my inspection sticker, toll tag and camera. I can pull all off with not messing up the tint.
^^^ - This.

I put ceramic "black" on sides and rear, supplemented with ceramic "blue" on windshield and moonroof.

Visually you can't tell the front sides, moon roof, or windshield are tinted. Temperature wise, the difference is *very* noticable.

@lrb_35128 recently posted he got 80%, which wouldn't be as dark. Maybe he can post some pics for you too:

Post #47 shows a daylight shot through the driver's side window and windshield, so you can see how, "darK" a double-layer of the 80 ceramic would be.

I bought a new 1998 4×4 Kia Sportage and my son had the windows tinted for a Mother's Day present. A week latter on a trip in Virginia we got pulled over for illegal tint and got a $240.00 ticket..A hour later West Virginia State police stopped us and after showing them the Virginia ticket gave us a 'fix it' and warning ticket. When we got back to Florida I to have it taken off and send proof back to both places..

Just a thought, use a shade. If you can see through the tint, it's not enough protection. If you just want to look cool or are paranoid that someone might see you, just say that.

An understandable, yet incorrect and insufficient, perspective.

A shade, though it may block a majority (if not all) visible light, depending upon material and coloration will have varying impact on infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) transmission. Furthermore, as they are removed when the vehicle is in motion, are not effective when the vehicle is in use.

"Enough protection" is a subjective statement. For example, as I am a grandparent with a family history of cataracts, I chose a high-visible light transmitting tint to minimize impact to my night driving. My daughter in her 30s would opt for a darker tint to suit her objectives.

With a Total Solar Energy Rejection of 42%, IR rejection of 99%, and UV rejection of 99%, while retaining nearly 80% of available visible light in a vehicle with what is effectively a large-greenhouse that spends considerable time outdoors in South Texas in the summers, I'd say the tint is, "enough protection" without having anything to with appearing, "cool" or enabling, "paranoid" behavior.

We seen to allow fear to rule our judgement and this is not good. I have seen cops ignore tractor trailers pulling a set of doubles at 80 mph in a 55 mph zone and ones ignore drivers who were clearly intoxicated so it is a matter of personal judgement and the time of the month and whether they need more tickets for their quota, and the personal bias of the officer.

A under age driver bought beer at a liquor store and again at a convenience store and then drove into a concrete block wall and killed his passenger. The parents of the dead teenager sued the two stores, the auto dealership that sold the kid the car, and the city of San Jose on whose property the wall was located. It is a matter of attorneys looking for deep pockets or there is no point in spending time in court.

If someone is pulled over for speeding then the officer may add other items, like a heavy window tint to the citation. A safety station inspector in states where this is done may also decide to cite the owner.

When I lived in Texas having the windows tinted was not something I considered option but essential for personal well being. An SUV in particular is like having a mobile greenhouse and they heat up much faster than other types of vehicles and this results in more use of the AC and more money spent on gas.

We've been in JAX for 17+ years, but grew up and lived in RVA for many more. We visit a few times a year since we still have family there. Henrico County and the VA State Police get off on catching traffic violators and even hassling people for smiling on a cloudy day. They get off on that shit. We have 70% on the front windshield, but then again, over half the vehicles in FL have windshield film. If the police in VA want to harass you because they can, they will as it is obvious it isn't clear like a fish bowl. Now, I've driven past quite a few of them in the last few years on visits and been good so far since we don't have front plates, but not sure what they'd do if there was a VA front plate.

This is what 70% on the front windshield looks like to help you decide:

Hmm I had my side window tint checked by a SC State Trooper in the 90's and was told it was illegal but since my vehicle was registered in Alaska, active duty in the military at the time, he could not write the ticket since it was a SC violation. HIs comment was along the lines it may be legal in Alaska.

Has anyone here had their windshield tinted. I am looking at doing a 70 all around the truck including the windshield but I was wondering if you can stick stuff to it. I have an inspection sticker in the lower drivers corner. How is that handled. Usually they take a razor and scrap off the old one to put on the new one. This would not be possible with the tint.

I also have an ez pass but that does not require any scrapping to remove.

What have you done with attaching something to the inner windshield with tinting?
I tint for a living.... do 70% CERAMIC to get 80% solar rejection. Cut the tint around the inspection sticker. MOVE the EZpass and stick it to the back of rearview mirror.

Mine in TX. No cover. I need to look into tint sooner rather than later. Trying to find a good ceramic/tint combo vendor.
If you’re in the DFW area I use the same guy for tint, ceramic coating and PPF. He uses XPEL for everything. XPEL Prime Plus for tint. Him and his wife run the shop. His name is Aaron. Always has some awesome high end stuff at his shop to look at too.

Howdy all - same as mrgoalie. I did ceramic on the windshield here in San Antonio. Significant improvement on the heat build up. No issues with stickers.
