Just took delivery of my new 2022 Smoked Quartz Platinum. Love the Truck. I have an appointment scheduled next week for window tint. The installer suggested doing Llumar Air 80 on the back windows for some extra heat rejection.

Can anyone comment on how much putting the clear tint on the back windows will help in keeping the truck cool in the summer? We are at the lake a lot so if it makes a significant difference I would be all for it.

Thanks!

I live in Texas, so I add tint to the rear windows, Windshield, and Panoramic roof. It makes a world of a difference. It could be 107 Deg outside and the interior cools off very quickly. It also helps with the black leather. Should help with the AC compressor as well.

I'm sure it's an improvement but I don't know how much. In the FL sun here the factory tint on the rears compares very favorably to the ceramic tint I added to my font windows. Just holding my hand next to the glass in direct sunlight both front and rear feel about the same. Both are much cooler than my untinted windshield.

But your experience might be different depending on what you buy.

In the rear, it already has a privacy glass, slight tinted but not heat rejection. Just add a light tint over it, then I always match front doors to the new rear darkness. Then tint the strip across the top of the windshield.

I did 20% on the fronts and rears, making the rear especially darker. I haven’t noticed much help with heat repellent, still pretty warm getting in after baking under the sun. I think ceramic tint would help with that, but someone else might need to weigh in.

Ive tried ceramic, it was meh, not sure worth the extra hype, and cost.

Added XPEL ceramic 20% to the two front doors, and then 70% to the windshield, back doors, and rear glass and it made a huge difference in the FL mega hell heat. It is pretty conservative in the darkness level compared to other FL vehicles with limo tint, but for me it is a good balance of darkening and heat rejection and I didn't have any issues recently in VA driving around police who like to bust people for smiling on a cloudy day.
