Im on SYNC 23291 and it drops airplay constantly. It also stops playing audio from Spotify regularly. I have to do a forced restart all the time.

I have a ‘21 XLT that was “stuck” in the original SYNC version. On that, it never dropped Airplay and had no other issues.

So my question, which SYNC version have people had the most success with reliable Airplay? More for curiosity as I’m not going backwards now.

Honestly Sync 3... Never had a single issue with it and Carplay. Sync 4 has been a complete pain in the ass with Carplay.

I'm on 23291 and have no issues with CarPlay. On IOS 18.3. Sync doesn't do airplay, that's the streaming audio. But it can do blue tooth for audio. IF you are doing wireless CarPlay, try using a cable and plugging in to see if you still get drops. You might need to delete your phone from sync, and delete sync from your phone in CarPlay settings and then re-add your phone.

My Android Auto performance was improved drastically when my Sync went up from 23291 to 24127.

No airplay issues on 22095. I want to do the FDRS upgrades to get the latest sync but part of my hesitation is dealing with more bugs in newer versions like this one you're reporting. If it ain't broke, don't fix it??

I have major issues exactly how you described with CarPlay on 23291. Still waiting patiently for Ford to decide to push an update to my truck. Worst OTA update process ever

Sorry, don’t know my version but it is a ‘24 MY. No issues.
It may not be Sync but your phone. The only issues I have had (3 Ford trucks with Sync) is when the phone gets too hot from charging while using multiple apps. Then it tends to ‘freeze’ up.

I recently went from 23291 up to 24127 and have the same amount of issues, wireless carplay dropping and reconnecting, audio not playing in Spotify etc. I didnt notice any improvement or any additional bugs from updating in my experience.
