I'm in the wouldn't want power boards camp. But if it's not something you'd want to add after the fact, walk away. I'm guessing for the difference in price you could add the power boards after market and have the truck sooner.....
And not worry about what might be deleted off the next truck you order due to chip shortages

How much are the power running boards to purchase after the fact? Perhaps the dealer would be willing to work with you by splitting the difference on the cost and a free install, if they truly want to make it up to you lol. Running board are a must for me just because the wife is short. I have the Ford power running boards. They're nice but I really hope I don't have problems with them later.

Anyone have a good side by side comparison of the power boards and standard boards? Do the power boards drop down lower?

Not sure why my opinion is ridiculous???

I find it "ridiculous" that people add emblems, decals, running boards, chrome etc.... To any vehicle...

I like my vehicles to keep a clean look without distractions.... Less is more

Again it's just an opinion... I would go without boards before I bolted ugly fixed boards on
Perhaps re-read what I typed? Or better comprehend?

The real question is what am I doing. I have this exact same issue.

As long as it is ONLY the power running boards then the following applies.

I am going with the truck. Power Running boards are spendy but easily doable. I get that they come as a free option, which begs the question, why not make it the friggen default.
anyway I would rather spend 2k on after market and get the truck then have to go through the whole waiting game again. I originally ordered in May and had my 2022 order canceled. Ordered on 10/4 and already have a VIN. I'm sticking with it

Also another pet peeve I have is the spray in bedliner on the MY23 with BAP. I wanted LineX.

Cheers.

why not make it the friggen default ...
$1500 BAP package use to include upgraded 20” wheel vs 18”. With 502A, you get 20” wheels, so ford felt ridiculous charging $1500 for black trim, so made steps free to be able to sleep at night.

I have the power running boards on my Platinum. They look cool when they drop down, but it was to order again I wouldn’t get them. Just another thing to break and I don’t mind the look of a fixed board.

Hey @Ford Motor Company , care to help make this right? It was an honest oversight by the dealer which I am paying the price for. I was told their rep tried their best to adjust order with no luck. I don’t hold the dealer at fault and will love the truck regardless, but it would sure be nice to have power running boards on my truck!

You have 2 limited setting options: way to short or unreasonably long.
Wait, you can adjust the travel on the power boards? I miss the running boards on my 15 as they dropped way farther, where is the setting to make the 22's extend further? ForScan?

Length of time to retract ;)

Would be ideal to be able to enter how long you want it.

Just added AMP boards to my PB as factory fixed weren't very usable. You can't stand on them without your boot hitting the bottom of the door. The new factory powered boards don't go down nearly as far as the amp. The amp is truly a mid-point step into the vehicle, vs a little ledge right below the door.

Personally I'd find an accessory or two and make the dealer supply them. Surely you can find about $500 worth of stuff to make them supply for their screwup. Signed contracts are just that. Not sure what your paperwork actually looks like, but their error shouldn't leave you short. That's literally what contracts are for. 2 parties agree to exchange goods / services and the party that's errored in some way makes it up to the other, lest the lawyers win.

Amp boards would be better if they actually made available full-length such as the factory boards are. That would however encroach into their ability to sell a step that makes up for the RB's short length.

It was the power running boards which are “free” with the black appearance package. My head says it’s ok since it’s just one more thing to fail down the road, but they do add a bit to the overall look so it’s hard to be ok letting it go. If it weren’t for the $1000 base price increase I’d reorder, but now they would no longer be “free”. Just a frustrating sequence of events.
Everyone I have talked to has had issues with the power running boards. I live up north so they are a pain in the snow. I'd stick with the regular running boards.

I am in the same situation- ordered loaded with power running boards, dealer didn’t add to my order and also the 360Active 2.0. I thought about canceling my truck but I found out dealer doesn’t cancel orders. They’ll take possession of the truck, markup $5-10k over MSRP and sell it. I understand many dealers have been short ordering customers options, customer doesn’t like, customer orders new truck (at higher price) and dealer sells your first order with a huge mark up. Dealers having a tough time getting stock vehicles, so they essentially take from the customer and have customer order a new one with their options. I call BS. I can live without power boards and the 360 Active 2.0(never had it so don’t know what I’m missing). I say buy the truck, he’ll with the stealerships! They’re all thieves! Cheers!
