If you really want power boards, the amp ones are really nice. They drop lower, tuck tighter, less noisy, and cost less. Also they can deploy one side independent of the other.

The OEM have the kick switch which is nice, but I’ve maybe used it twice when washing my truck. I’ll keep mine til they fail and then put on the Tremor versions.

Think about it, you'll save some money buying the power boards afterwards anyways. If you are financing, you're not having to finance the power boards.

The way things are currently with shortages of parts to finish a truck, I'd take delivery of the truck. It's too hard to find one on a lot that has all of your desired options and ordering one can be a nightmare. You need to ask yourself if the hassle and cost of ordering another truck would be worth it.

I wouldn't own a truck without power boards.. last truck had them, and they worked perfectly after 6 yrs in Minnesota climate... As long as you take care of your truck and wash regularly they are fine...fixed boards are ugly.. I would go with amps if you can't get the factory ones

Assuming you’ve never had them before… If your primary reason to have them was they were free with BAP versus a physical limitation compared to standard boards, then let ‘em go.

I got them for the freebie factor on my BAP. Novel at first, but they annoy me more than add to enjoyment. You have 2 limited setting options: way to short or unreasonably long.
So you think, no problem, I’ll just deploy them and turn them to off and they wont constantly go up and down. Nope..,as soon as you roll away the loudish motor whirs away and up they come. unplugged may be next, but seems kinda silly.

I’ve been keeping my eyes open for a local set of standard boards. Save these for resale value.
I’d buy @erixgix set when he sells them ?

Seems that your dealer doesn't want to honor your contract that you made with the dealer. I think if you told the dealer that you are not canceling anything and that the truck might need to stay on the lot until you both straighten this all out in a courtroom might make the dealer see there are other options.

You spent days combing through the 2023 build guides to come up the perfect set of options and received a quote from a well-known and well respected dealer for that exact truck. You sign paperwork, hand over a deposit, and within 24 hours your receive an email from Ford that your order is confirmed! Two days later and you receive an email it is scheduled for production! Everything is going great! Then one week before your build date you look up your Window Sticker. Everything looks good, except for that one option is missing…. You go back to your emails, you review the details, you find the error…. The quote you accepted was perfect, the dealer missed a line item on the transfer to Fords ordering system…. You reach out to the dealer and they apologize for the error and make a genuine effort to have the build modified with no luck. You are left with these three options, accept the truck as it is built, submit a new order and wait, or walk away. You’ve been assured by the dealer there is no wiggle room to make this right due to their amazing pricing. Let’s not forget, there has been a $1000 base price increase since the original order and the 2.9% for 60 is no longer advertised and likely gone. While the option is mainly cosmetic, this is your one big purchase you hope to keep for years and going aftermarket would likely double the cost of that option putting it north of $2000. What would you do? Definitely having a tough time deciding for myself!
The real question is what am I doing. I have this exact same issue.

As long as it is ONLY the power running boards then the following applies.

I am going with the truck. Power Running boards are spendy but easily doable. I get that they come as a free option, which begs the question, why not make it the friggen default.
anyway I would rather spend 2k on after market and get the truck then have to go through the whole waiting game again. I originally ordered in May and had my 2022 order canceled. Ordered on 10/4 and already have a VIN. I'm sticking with it

Also another pet peeve I have is the spray in bedliner on the MY23 with BAP. I wanted LineX.

Cheers.

You wouldn't own a truck without power running boards?

I just wanted to repeat that for ridiculousness. I mean, I get that you like them and you want them, but wouldn't own?

I'm also in the camp running boards protects from road debris and possibly a door ding. I also like the way they look more among other things but that's personal preference.

I live in Minnesota and had them on a 2010 Expedition. They made it for 6 winters, after that it was easier to just leave them in the down position as they wouldn't go back up consistently. Every winter I look for them and see plenty in the down position driving around. I'll be happy to never own another vehicle with them.

Bedliner is only required if you also have max tow. I’m still debating what to do. Free is free until it’s $1000…. Lol.

Not sure why my opinion is ridiculous???

I find it "ridiculous" that people add emblems, decals, running boards, chrome etc.... To any vehicle...

I like my vehicles to keep a clean look without distractions.... Less is more

Again it's just an opinion... I would go without boards before I bolted ugly fixed boards on

That’s not how I roll. I actually appreciate that they owned up to the mistake right away, just disappointed they are at the mercy of Ford’s policies. (No changes after VIN is set).

Not sure if someone already said this, but fixed running boards are good door ding protectors. I'm not a chrome guy so I was not interested in the power running boards.
