Why do you ask?

Just trying to figure out the area of the country to avoid for monetary reasons.

A $1200 truck payment is insane to me, let alone two. My mortgage isn't much more than that. My 24 XL is at $570/month.

I think I read recently that the average car payment recently reached the $1000 mark. Not surprised, since with just simple math a $60,000 vehicle isn't rare at all, so even a 0% 60 month loan.........

So for every fella like yourself with a payment below $1000, there's someone paying more than $1000 for what they are driving.

It's a crazy world.

It's lower now, but we hit full CA real estate pricing in Austin a couple of years ago, which is why I left there 20 years ago!

My Bro is paying $1500/ month for his Raptor, but obviously that is also a factor of his DP, equity, etc.

Texas Real Estate pricing was the envy of both left/right coasts. For decades.

Having been here for near 70 years and hearing/reading what a homestead cost in those areas was hard for me to even fathom.

And then the last few years happened. I witness in total dismay. ?

I have no intention of ever selling out and heading for a third world country. But I'm convinced that the for sale signs are likely to get posted by my children, moments after I start my dirt nap. ?

And now I'm scrambling back to the fence to peek over the other side!

I'm driving at the auction.

Today I drove a '28 Studebaker across the block, and it went for only $10k! As well as a '40 Packard two seat convertible for $28k!

I'd pay either of those in a heartbeat, and then I wouldn't have space for the truck!

(OK, and in fact, don't actually need the truck given that I'm getting my wife a Maverick. But I still want it!)
