Go get the FORD OEM Raptor Steel one. I replaced my fiberboard on my 21 with the raptor steel one. Already saved my trans pan from road debris.... Here are the parts I got for my 2021 Platinum PB. My truck has the FX4 package so I already had some parts. Check your year for correct parts.

You can get a cheap fiber one on ebay for about $40. Note that if you don't have one and never did, the brackets that hold it in the back will likely be missing. I am unsure of a part number for these, and the bolts/nuts that hold them onto the frame.

After 2 Michigan winters, my fiber mat fell apart at the screw connection points back in mid 2023. When I asked the Ford Service manager about replacing it, he chuckled and said that he would gladly take my money for the repair, but isn't worth it around 'these parts'. He also said he had a pile of bad ones they have been collecting.

After 2 Michigan winters, my fiber mat fell apart at the screw connection points back in mid 2023. When I asked the Ford Service manager about replacing it, he chuckled and said that he would gladly take my money for the repair, but isn't worth it around 'these parts'. He also said he had a pile of bad ones they have been collecting.
I had one that had that happen on one screw mount. I was able to repair pretty decently with some epoxy and abs plastic.

After installing one on my new truck that didn't come with one, I realize now why the screw connections are the failure point. Dealers have to remove this to change the oil. 4 bolts, easy enough, right? Except the bolts are far enough away from each other and on the outer edges that when you get to the last couple or last one, al the rest of the weight of the diaper is hanging on that one spot. Eventually, it fails.

I wouldn't say dealers purposely "don't" try to hold these covers up while they remove the bolts, but I wouldn't be surprised. "oops, the cover is damaged, can't put it back on" when the reality is they just caused the damage.

Really its just a poor design. If there was on mounting spot near the middle, would never be an issue, or very rarely one.

Given that the 2024 never came with one, is it necessary to install one? Was there something different about the 2024 underbody that allows it not to come with the diaper?

I replaced mine on my 21 powerboost with a skid plate from Talons garage. I was concerned because the transmission pan is plastic and the skid plate makes it tougher for theft of the cats as well.

I think its a cost cutting move honestly. I just didn't like the plastic bottom of the transmission pan exposed the way it was, to rocks or other stuff. I don't go offroading, but you never know when a rock is going to fly.

Yep, snow piles up on it and it will fail at a connection point or two. That happened to me last winter on my former ‘22. I just removed it and never looked back. One less thing to worry about when changing the oil.
