I use a 21mm hex 6 on my truck with zero problems. I used a 22mm on my Chevy truck for its lug nuts. I like the Ares sockets that have a long plastic sleeve to protect the rims.

I tried both and 13/16 is a much better fit. Wonder why people get rounded lug nuts? Tire shops with a 21 mm and impact. Try both and see for yourself
21mm is correct but 13/16 is just a tad tighter.

I have never had a problem rounding nuts with the factory recommendation. I just replaced all 24 of my lug nuts for Gorillas. 21mm worked great for taking them off with my air impact gun. Your lug nuts will not round off with a 21MM socket. That is the factory recommendation and it works. It just that 13/16 can be a tad tighter. On occasion maybe too tight to get on a lug nut.

They've repeatedly told you they've used 21mms with no problem.

Maybe, just maybe, you're not 100% right. Get over yourself.

It’s not about getting over myself. It’s about what fits correct and helping people do the correct thing to save rounded lugs. If something is close it’s not correct. Maybe back yard mechanics are ok with it’s close so it’s good. If a socket has play it’s wrong size pretty simple.

You've made 7 posts just on this subject in the past week. You're not trying to help. You're trying to prove you're right.

Helping is telling someone what's worked for you and walking away. It's up to them to follow the advice or not.

And thank you for explaining socket fit to me.

My 2 cents:
I keep a 21 mm socket on a breaker bar under back seat.
A cordless impact in tool bag behind seat, and charger under the seat.
A huge f%^cking off road jack strapped in the bed.
A torque wrench in the garage tool box for after the trail repairs or before a trip.
13/16 sounds fine to me.
Discount tire said OEM lug nuts suck ass and the plating strips off. Not really true rounding of good solid metal.
I replaced them all asap.
Sometimes beating a dead horse promotes learning. LOL

Whenever I need cheering up, I come back to this thread where everyone is right and argues about it ?
Ford F-150 Tire Nut socket size? IMG_5129
Ford F-150 Tire Nut socket size? IMG_5130

It's obvious:
13/16 for freshly picked nuts;
21mm for roasted nuts (too much ugga-dugga);
22mm found back of the water heater and left there ?

Wiki and AI are not solid reference material.

I have been using a 6-point 21mm
It seemed to work well,
I tried a 13/16 6-point and it DOES indeed fit tighter.

However, the difference is SO slight, that there is no way the lugs can be rounded by using a 21mm…….not even using a 12-point
