So:

$55K seems a lot for an XLT. Mostly due to year. I'd suggest a lower mile higher trim '22 would be a better buy all around.

FX4 is meaningless to me, but I can appreciate 4WD. Mind you snow tires will trump 4WD in almost every case. Well, maybe a wet boat ramp, but....

I think the B&O sounds pretty good myself, and for factory it's not bad at all.

The 2.7 is a pretty good engine. If you tow you'll appreciate the 3.5, otherwise...

PowerBoost is important if you value the generator. If not it's not going to save you any tangible operational money.

Interest rate is a big big deal. Big deal.

What of the cost for an extended service contract? I'd buy a recent Ford, and a power boost for sure, without a service contract only when hell froze over.

Negative equity puts you in the hole starting out. If you don't need the towing and generator right now take the extra money and pay extra on your current truck and gain some equity. You can consider buying a leftover 2024 next year or an upgrade when you have the truck paid off. The finance folks job is to sell contracts not to look after your finances. Good luck with your decision.

Delayed gratification: The act of resisting an impulse to take an immediately available reward in the hope of obtaining a more-valued reward in the future.

Had a 21 302a XLT well optioned Power boost that 1640# payload. Traded it for a 22 302a XLT 2.7EB payload package. Much happier driver.

#1 if you need payload the power-boost is not the best way to go.
#2 your present 2.7EB 2wd will be in the same ball park for fuel mileage.
#3 your present truck has maybe more standard items which have omitted on 22 & 23 model trucks.
#4 if you feel you have the need for a PB make sure it has the 7.2KW power source to not hobble it's trade in value after you realize you really didn't need a overly complex vehicle that more that likely the local dealers have issues resolving issues when they arise.
#5 make darn sure it IS NOT a max tow vehicle, towing is good.
Found a great deal on a new truck and dealer is offering pretty good trade in. Looking to upgrade from 2021 XLT Sport 302A 2.7 EB 2WD to 2023 XLT Sport 302a 3.5 Powerboost FX4 with all options. My truck has 51k miles on it and I'm paying for an extended warranty currently. The new truck would be a couple hundred dollars more a month. Would it be worth it? Would the Powerboost be that much better than the 2.7

Can’t help but to say 3.0 duramax in one of the twins when I read your post. Extremely easy to get 30mpg real world on the highway. Would fit your needs. Extremely smooth and best factory tuned vehicle I’ve ever driven.
Pls don’t flame

I've seen "with all options" (wrong) too many times to take that on trust - please post the window sticker, the devil is in the details!

Thanks for the information and advice. I did end up pulling the trigger and doing the deal. I was able to get more for my trade and the truck price dropped a bit too. I also got all the financing rebates and specials with Ford, but I'm refinancing with my CU for a better rate and financing plan. Now my payment will only go up $70. I'm much happier with the deal now. I'll be checking out some of the other post to learn more about the Powerboost and new truck.

That's basically my sticker sans the max tow package. Glad I dodged that bullet. It's got many more options now.

You'll love the truck.

Congratulations, that is indeed a pretty well loaded 302A and it sounds like you got a deal that works to make you happy.

(y)

Not "all the options", e.g. no trailer tow mirrors which happen to be a personal favorite, but YMMV, no worries. Good for you, no moonroof!

Just curious - what's the sticker payload rating ?

Nice truck!
Copilot Assist means you get the sweet part of Bluecruise without that nagging tattle tale watching your eyeballs. :)

When it's all said and done, having the truck that you can be smitten with everytime you jump in it....... Matters.

You are swapping trucks to get a fairly loaded 4x4 PB for your current 2WD truck with 51k miles on it. 51k miles is nothing to sneeze at. 4x4 makes for better resale and if you ever need to power your home from a power outage, the PB and some good extension cords will save the day.

$70 more a month and perhaps another year of payments is a sweet deal for a better truck with 0k miles on it. Nice all day every day. Good luck with it!
