Powerboost vs ecoboost

Well to and from work with stop on way home to tims. . Highway kms and 80 kms zones and two towns to travel 50 kms back town had 3 plus traffic lights . Can you get this with your eco powered engines? I think not.

Hey Dan,
What are you getting on the 407? Heading towards the 403, I can't get any better than 11.5 km/100 at speed limit and it's like 13L/100 km's at 120kms/hr. I think that it's the concrete road, head winds and the combination of incline and decline in both directions because its not like that on the 401.

I did drive from Burlington to St Agatha the other day and averaged 9.8/L/ 100 km's 170 km's overall and it was as advertised 24 mpg. It seems to be about 2 mpg better running premium 91 octane.

I did take a picture of what it was getting doing average around 55 mph and it is great.

Do you have a cover for box? I was getting 9.2-10 before cover. Plus I find driving in normal drive and not eco drive also saves on fuel. I drive from Kitchener to Orangeville all the time and it's better on fuel then the taurus I had. I haven't had chance to drive my truck on 407 as of yet. However, I do dive a f550 on it all the time and yes there are cross winds all the time but it do save time when on it. I hate 401. What you have 18 or 20 wheels? And do your GPS kms match the truck kms? I have been using reg gas for now.

Yes I have a Tonneau cover.
Tires are 18 inch Goodyear Wrangler territory AT that I am not happy with. Getting rid of them and going with the Michelin Defender LTX MS.
I find the biggest difference between Eco mode and Normal is the accelerator input.
Throttle input seems to be reduced by using premium fuel, to achieve the same performance level if using regular fuel.

I agree these are absolutely amazing on fuel.

Tires are 18 inch Goodyear Wrangler territory AT that I am not happy with. Getting rid of them and going with the Michelin Defender LTX MS.

How many K's so far? When I reached 1000ks I put it in sports mode and we'll gas mileage sucked for 30min lol. Found road where I knew there was no cops lol. The 430hp really works lol. After that I did get better gas mileage as well.

3700 km's, yes when you put it through the floor the mileage drops significantly, but the grin factor goes through the roof. ?. I have been able to do multiple 0 to 60 times in 5.2 seconds time by GPS.
It's extremely fun. Don't worry cops are busy trying to ticket people for wanting to go to work or see family members. ??. Cheers.

750 miles on 21 PB Lariat, I'm not pleased with the gas milage. Usually around 20mpg, have not seen the advertised 24mpg yet.

Finally got my photos, phone to PC working again.

This is my lifetime average on my PowerBoost and as I stated in my previous post, it includes pulling this boat around 200 miles of the total. I have never weighed this boat but guessing it is close to 5000 lbs.

With no trailer yet and no load I am averaging about 26 mpg over the first few hundred miles. Light on throttle and this has everything from steep gravel roads to 10 mile stretches no hills at 45 mph. Altitude from 1000 to 3000 feet daily so lots of up/down. Only modifications are diamond back HD tonneau and swapped Pirelli Scorpions for Michelin LTX A/T^2. Pretty impressive and I think consistent with your numbers. Just put 110,000 miles on my 2013 EB and this is easily 8 mpg more than the all-steel EB. The 2021 KR PB is pretty awesome if you ask me.

Did you see my experiment for freeway speeds? I tested 10th gear and found an equation:

55mph is where I can "run up the scoreboard" at 28MPG but it is also a very annoying speed unless you are on a 2 lane highway. And I lose about 1/2MPG for every MPH above that. I haven't done further testing below 55mpg or where it switches to 8th or 9th.

In town I can "run up the scoreboard" on fairly smooth surface streets where 25-40mph is normal and there aren't too many full stops. The alternating between electric and hybrid really optimizes gas on these things in that speed range. 40mph in 8th gear seemed pretty efficient but I didn't do official tests, things kept knocking me out of 40mph by getting in my way.

I ended up purchasing the 3.5 EB instead of the powerboost exactly for this reason. I can't understand how the 3.5EB and the powerboost would get any different MPG on long highway trips. The electric motor isn't going to do much at highway speeds. I was actually thinking that at 70mph+ highway speeds the added weight and 3.73 rear end might cause the powerboost to get less mpg than the 3.5EB.

I agree - my dealer even had the Service mgr in the conversation and they both could not identify anything different between the Tow pkg truck vs one w/o the tow pkg when the base truck was XLT/302a with the PB - it seems the PB adds many of the components that provide the extra Tow capacity in the Tow Pkg - now the Service Mgr did NOT do a detailed part number by part number comparison so maybe there is something but he did not know what it could be

The only difference I can see with mine and max tow is the trailer hitch and rear bumper. I have the powerboost and I have 11400lbs Towing

You are correct, the PB is all about “city” driving. Towing on the highway, same as EB or even marginally less as you say due to increased mass of PB over EB. The plot shown should fall off as velocity squared because the aerodynamic drag increases as velocity^2. I agree that the PB shines in the city or speeds below 50 mph.
That being said I also find that there is a 1.5 to 2mpg difference between using Regular gas or 91 octane.
If I do the speed limit on the hwy (65mph) using 87 octane, I averaged 22 mpg. That is over 120 miles.
Same trip using premium 91 octane a week later 24 mpg, weather and temperatures were the same both trips.

When I travel at 78 MPH regular gas, was 17.8 mpg over 120 miles.
Same trip using 91 octane and same speeds 78 MPH, same weather 19.8 mpg. Both using cruise control and based on the Computer read out. I still have to hand calculate it.

"Give it time" is what the dealer told me. As the PB breaks in, the mileage will get better and better. The owners manual also makes this claim, so it is not just the opinion of the dealer rep. Over the course of my first 1,000 miles, I have seen an increase in MPG every couple hundred miles. Best I have done is 21.5, but I also live in the Ozarks, so flat and level ground is not easy to come by.

I would say you get the highest MPGs award, that is some great numbers! I had one trip of about 50 miles and I got a little over 26, probably because my first tank from the dealer I had them put premium in it. The rest of the same trip has been upper 23s to lower 25s. I had done a lot of short trips while the weather was still cold, been warmer lately. I'm pleased with my over all average.

I just love these new KR trucks they are awesome, yours is a twin to mine and I think these are the sharpest wheels to date from Ford.
