Similar issue here. Grinding/ vibration in gas pedal when turning and at highway speeds. Very noticeable when it was hot and now temps have dropped a bit and the issue seems to be gone. So strange. I had dealer look at it, they confirmed vibration but wouldn’t troubleshoot any further because I have a 2” level and 34’s on my tremor. Told me to put the truck back to stock which I think is bs, the vibration is clearly in the driveline.
If the dealer were to investigate your vibration and confirmed that it was indeed caused by the lift and/or oversize tires, would you be happy paying the $1,000+ bill for diag?

Sure, if that's actually what it is. I'm not confident that a 10 minute drive and looking under the truck for a few minutes Is finding the root cause of the issue. My truck was all of 30 minutes with the tech while I waited. There seems to be a lot of vibration issues when you search around. Differentials, drive shafts, transmissions etc. To tell me to remove a level that was dealer installed before taking delivery and having tires that are 1" bigger than stock seems a stretch.

After getting a brand new truck to drive with that 2.7 ecoboost in it that runs extremely rough and felt in the seat and gas petal, I am leaning towards the engine in my truck has an issue and the heat is amplifying it. It did kill the diesel particulate filter so maybe the egr is also needing to be replaced.

On a side note, I hope something is wrong with the 2.7 in this loaner because I have never driven anything that shakes, stumbles and vibrates as bad as this truck.

Sounds like bad fuel possibly? Don't follow anything on the little powerstroke motor but I'm sure the EGR builds up carbon like any other. These tier 4 diesels love to be run hard and don't take kindly to being babied.

Why is working on a 10r80 any more difficult than working on the 6r80 or a 10R140?

A transmission tech is always working on transmissions. And if he gets really good at rebuilding/repairing a specific model, he can make more money beating the book time.

I only know this because of a neighbor who fed his family rebuilding the same Ford fleet transmission (4R100?) for several years at a Ford commercial truck dealer. He was killing it, according to his own explanation.

It gets run hard as much as possible once I get out of traffic and onto the curvy country roads. Ford recalled it because it had the injector quality adjustments wrong from the factory and it was overfueling. It was always blowing black smoke under acceleration and killed the DPF as a result. I drove it for over 9 months that way because nobody would give me a loaner so I'm sure it caused more unknown issues with the emission system. It has always had a vibration in the engine at idle in the hot August Texas weather but this year something else is adding to that vibration. Last night it was running extremely rough at an idle in the driveway which never happens and this morning it was as smooth as can be again.

Autonation said they can't find anyone to work there doing transmissions and they lost one of their 2 techs to another dealership that offered a lot more money to come work for them instead.

So, you know you don't have to take it to the dealer you bought it from, right?

Take it to the dealership that sniped the trans techs?

Well some things never change. If someone offers your tech more money, you lose them.

Surely Ford, the manufacturer, isn't to blame for dealerships tech competition?

Service department can't be the cash cow without competent techs. Perhaps they should try paying them better or offer them a fraction of the billed hourly rate as an option. Stealership can't charge for work they're not accomplishing.

Autonation has alway kept me in a service loaner which is not going to happen at another dealership.

Yes. They have taken care of me for the most part and always get me a service loaner.

this may or may not sound dumb, but try a couple bottles of fuel cleaner on your next fill up.

I guess we have different opinions of service and being taken care of.

I'd happily pay for a rental for few days to avoid weeks of waiting. If you have a Ford ESP, I believe it offers a first day loaner as well.
