Sync froze today for long time when i started truck

very very weird
started truck, 75th screen loaded then froze. no light changes ...nothing just 75

mind you i had ac set at 60 from day before, fan at 3, this worked by hearing the air flow
phone was Bluetooth turned on to see truck and it saw sync
phone wifi was on.
seat cooling was at 2 blue lights
parking brake on
i waited for almost a full minute to see if it would clear..

so then shut off truck, opened door and screen never changed. closed door and no change
pressed radio OFF button and no change
opened door again and no change. screen stayed ON

restarted truck, screen blanked off then did the 75th and proceeded to boot up normally and saw phone and played music from phone with no prompts.


very strange and i had no updates or changes.

this is one of the reasons i regret getting a damn 14th gen F150.. the 12 inch sync 4 screen is not 100% reliable/dependabe compared to the competitors based on my personal experiences

I have had this issue twice so far in my 23.
Once almost exactly the same and another when putting it in reverse.
Strange and not comforting at all

it did it again today. i got home from a perfect long drive
had to run back out and move truck about a foot fwd
started truck, released brake and screen froze black. bumper sensors worked as i pulled closer the fence, but sync never opened

went back out 30 minutes later..boom all perfect

On the wheel hold volume down and track forward (2 bottom outer buttons) and it will reboot. If it persists its a warranty issue. Best to try and get it on video. Note conditions like if it was in the sun for a while, etc...

had a WIFI issue for a few minutes afterwards like it could not see my phone
phone saw HAL and was logged in.
then it decided to connect .
booted mucho better this time as well . actually pretty fast compared to previous days

mine will do that occasionally too. I try to start the truck and let things boot up before doing anything else. obviously thats only if I have the time. but it seems mine started locking up after one of the latest updates it downloaded. not often enough to worry about. I just figure its a part of our new computerized lifestyles. I am guessing they will force another update before long that fixes this and screws up something else !

My Sync screen has frozen on the boot up animation several times since the last update. Never did it once before.

It only does it right when I start up the truck, and certainly not all the time. It will stay frozen for ~15 second or so, then reboot itself and come all the way back up like nothing happened.

The most recent update has screwed up the sync 4 with apple carplay / android auto. Mine will always freeze when going in reverse after a drive. The longer the drive, the worse the freeze up will be. If i go around the corner it only freezes for a few seconds. If I drive for an hour or more, it will completely freeze up when i go in reverse. When I disconnect apple carplay it seems to fix the issue.

My truck has been doing this since April. It's really starting to sour my experience. Such a dumb thing to have an issue with caused by Ford's OTA updates.

My 2015 Canyon infotainment system would spontaneously reboot and freeze. It is not a Ford-only thing.

My truck (21 XLT) does this every once in awhile now. It freezes and then reboots itself and all is fine after reboot. I just let it do it's thing. Would i love it to never happen? Sure. But it seems related to a recent update so I'd be willing to bet it'll be fixed with an overnight update and it'll be fine. Here's to hoping...

My SYNC4 started freeing when on Android Auto. Just started a couple of weeks ago. No updates to SYNC4 (I never received any updates since the truck was born 2 years less 1 week ago) so it has to be some stupid Android Auto update. I can get out of AA to Audio for example, but can't do anything within AA. In one of the cases I was in Audio screen and couldn't even go in to AA. I press the button but nothing happens. Today I was in Google Maps and couldn't clear the search bar, go to settings, go to AA main screen...nothing within AA, only back to Audio mode. A reset while driving fixed that, but why the hell would I need to do this on a north-of-$65K truck??
I remember how Ford and everyone was so excited about SYNC4....that's one giant piece of garbage. A $200 Android unit from CHYNA is 10 times better.
