Has anyone added a small bed tank to supplement the 30.6 gallon main tank? I’m considering the possibility. I would like to add one that feeds directly to the main tank like my Transfer Flow on my old diesel, but it doesn’t need the fancy electronics. In towing my trailer I often get in the range of the 7s in mpg making me have to stop no more than every 200 miles. I can do it, but I don’t like it. I’m only needing around ten to fifteen more gallons. I have a roll up tonneau cover whose canister doesn’t leave but maybe a foot clearance in the bed up near the cab. But it would seem a small tank would fit there nicely. Since we have a locking sealed fuel system, I wonder about the effect of adding an extra tank and splicing into the filler tube like Transfer Flow tanks do. Anyway, has anyone done something along this line successfully or at least pondered it sufficiently to offer advice. Again, I know I can live with the present tank or could run around with a five gallon gas can in the back, but I really liked the seamlessness of my old Transfer Flow. I’m spoiled.

Seems like a TON of work for 10-15 gallons. If you are getting 7 while towing, that is an additional 70-100 miles? Why not just take a container with you?

seems like a read somewhere that adding an auxiliary tank has to pass certain DOT standards. probably be easier to just by a larger aftermarket tank and have it installed.

Does anyone make an aftermarket tank that fits a Powerboost that would be closer to 40 gallons? That would be just as good.

I added a 66 g aux tank to mine. It has to be certified as an aux tank not a transfer tank. Be careful n plumbing it in as both the feed into the main tank and the tank vent line must be plumbed in.

Do you have the payload available for the extra gallons? 7 seems very low for towing mileage unless your pulling heavy uphill?

Seems like the tank is pressurized so I’m not sure how that would work with an add on tank.

I was concerned about the fact that it’s pressurized. Again, if an auxiliary tank won’t work, has anyone found a replacement for the main tank like Titan or Transfer Flow makes for diesels?

Back in my childhood, while dinosaurs still roamed the highways (the 1970s), my father was awed and asked about the amount of fuel someone was pumping into his RV.

Turned out that he'd added a 55 gallon drum to hold fuel.

Somehow, I doubt that however he did it would pass today's standards--and likely not whatever governed back then!

That's 400 lbs of fuel. Do you have more than the average payload for a PB? I wouldnt be able to tow anything with a full tank in the bed but I have all the bells and whistles a Lariat can get..

LOL, I'd find a better way to secure them than bungee cords, they can easily slip off if not attached properly.

I know its a joke, but if I had to stop to add gas from cans, I might as well find a gas station.

A simple matter of finding a female of appropriately sized bladder to travel with you.

She goes into the rest stop, and you fill the tank!

Long ago, I did a 450 mile drive without stopping, consuming a quart of soda along the way. Very much not in my future!
