I might add, the additional fuel economy vs the added cost will take you 10 years to break even. The added power is fun when you need it, but......
The added power isn't just fun when you need it. The additional torque is available all the time and provides a much smoother power delivery compared to the EB. It has effortless power more like a diesel. Combine that with superior fuel economy, unsurpassed idling capability, and model leading performance. My 2022 302A 7.2kW XLT is the bees knees.

* I do run into an issue when driving at high speeds (75mph plus) on warmer days for long durations (2+ hours). It will almost inevitably throw a powertrain warning light. This always resets on next startup. I'm pretty sure the hybrid system goes whack on long drives. Truck still works just fine.
Would be very interested to see what codes could be harvested when you get the powertrain warning light, before you cycle the key and it clears.

Mechanically, my PB is a great truck. It has some major annoyances, but outside of 1 issues (which was avoidable) it's been reliable.

* These trucks are very sensitive to dying 12v batteries (the good ol car battery under the hood). Mine started throwing crazy errors when the 12v battery started to die. New battery and it's flawless.

* The software has a bunch of glitches that are mostly annoyances. Mostly just things not turning on with the truck. For example, about 20% of the time my backup sensors don't work. Another 20% my infotainment screen takes FOREVER to turn on.

My only genuine complaint with this truck is the payload capacity. Mine is just over 1.3k. I'd REALLY like it to be near 1.6k that's more common on the non-hybrid configurations. For me, I want to put tent camper on the bed (~300lbs) and still tow a small trailer. It's just not really possible when we get the entire family loaded up.

That being said, our F-150 quickly overtook our other car as our road trip vehicle.
Dude, those minor annoyances for you would be a deal killer for me. Those annoyances are unacceptable for a $70K vehicle. That is why I want to get rid of mine. A/C will intermittently stop cooling until I "reset" everything. Running boards not deploying when they should. The display not coming up properly 100% of the time. Glitch here, glitch there. Unacceptable to me. Absolute fail on quality and reliability.

Thankfully mine have only been minor annoyances. I don't really care about the backup sensors. Screen is easy to reset.

For me, the 7.2kw Pro Power is a game changer. Glare free headlights are amazing. Driver assists are all very good. Key code entry is basically Ford exclusive. Loads of power.

Just annoying software stuff.

40K miles on my 2022 Platinum and I’m loving it more everyday. As a moderately conservative driver, I’m averaging 20-22 MPG on the highway, and 22-24 MPG in the city. I guess I’m one of the lucky ones because I’ve had practically no issues. Wipers were replaced for factory recall, and a “SW reset” had to be performed to fix a blinking rear license plate light.

One man's annoyance can be another's joy robbing bain.

This forum, and others, have shown that to be true many times over.

I bought a ‘22 157” KR PB for towing an RV. Would I buy one if I didn’t want the generator? No. My powerboost averages lower mpg than our near identical ‘18 eco boost, so why?

would I buy a new one? Also no. If I was buying new and had a truck meeting my present needs I would at least wait for ramcharger to ship. Of course I believe ford is already working in a ramcharger competitor too.

for me PB is just a stepping stone, so buying a new one is harder to justify.

That is true, and I find the emotional component interesting. I loved my H3, and I would often praise its reliability and dependability prompting my wife to begin listing the significant issues that needed addressed over the years. I had a blind spot because it had served me well in certain situations. I became fond of the 'ute. :giggle:

Just curious to know how you figure this to be true?? The PB and the EB are literally the same cost..

It's a $1900 option. At a 2mpg overall difference.... Do the math. When I bought mine it was more than $1900.

Here is my experience with the PB,

My first experience with Ford, 2022 F150 Powerboost.

From the first couple weeks of owning the new truck is was making a nasty grinding noise from the transmission turns out it was delivered low on transmission fluid and was topped up at dealer, may or may not have suffered damage due to this. Then a couple months later during a hot summer trip I lost pretty much all coolant and overheated the engine due to a defective heat exchanger on the exhaust. Then Couple months after that started getting a service soon notification on the dash randomly, tuck wouldn't go into electric drive when this was happening. After few months ford figured in may me a starter and alternator issue and parts were not availed anywhere in North America. Shortly after this the transmission started making a banging sound and caused the truck to lunge forward while stopped at a light/ traffic, this was a bit scary and was the last straw for me. I since have traded the lemon for another Ford non hybrid and I’m out just over $10k. No lemon law in Canada.

Such a waste of a good truck when Ford ships them with a 10r80 transmission low on fluid.
And it's really unfortunate if you had one of the exhaust heat exchangers with a leak but didn't catch it before the truck overheated. I don't trust these modern aluminum engines once they overheat, unless I know they didn't ever get over about 240-250F.

It's why I'm a PID nerd.
The good news is that an owner can know so much about what is going on if they have the tools.
The bad news is that without those tools you won't catch things early and bad things can happen pretty quickly.

Ford damaged your truck.
Such a shame.

As much as I complain about mine, it's a great truck. That said, I think that there are a lot of changes in vehicles coming down the pipe and if you can hold on for 5 more years, you'll be really glad that you waited. A 2024 will be more similar to your '09 than it is to a 2029.

I will note that the ONLY exhaust heat exchanger malfunction which DOESN'T throw a code is "leak emptying the truck's coolant onto the highway".

Its currently a $1900 option... And then there is a $1900 PB discount. So after I did the math I calculated It doesn't cost you a penny more to choose a PB over the EB. I triple checked my work... My work is shown below.

$1900 - $1900 = $0.
