I thought about trying something like that.
I just need to keep it from sliding rearward on the slippery plastic bed liner. The more experience I get with that thing the more I think of throwing it away. I had linex on last two trucks but this one came used with this plastic thing. ?
Those plastic liners are slick as owl shit. Lol.

Pretty much, and I had no idea I had tie downs low in the truck bed because they were hidden. ?‍♂
I've used the box link spots to strap down larger cargo than some light weight flooring.

now it all makes sense.

Pull that plastic liner out throw in the freaking trash. Those things are so horrible for your truck.

I have a spray in bed liner and it is pretty slick, also. I bought a Husky rubber mat to put in my bed. Most everything with a little weight to it doesn't slide around.

Yes, the factory spray in liner is a lot like LineX. It can be a bit slippery. Rhino Lining is certainly more of a rubber texture. However, it is so rubbery, loading the bed is difficult.

There may be no perfect liner. Like you, I added a mat as well.

The 2x4 or 2x6 over the lowered tailgate with the planks underneath, that is then ratchet strapped down to the "beer bottle opening" tabs will secure the planks safely.

The best part I go to the place thinking I'm getting loose boxes and they have it on a pallet for me. ?

Anyone need a 72 inch pallet? ?

18 years I've lived here and anything and everything I put out at end of driveway gets picked up by someone.

Even the water heater I replaced after moving in. Thing probably weighed 300 lbs from all the sediment in it at 20+ years old. Dude eventually got it in the pickup truck and took off. ?

I bet the pallet will be gone before the weekend. Some wife will be inspired and get the husband to pick up.

I've seen this method be pretty effective - cut some 2x4's the width of the bed, then have a vertical "foot" 2x4. Bring a screw gun on the day of pickup. Load your long, thin items, put the foot on top, and screw it into the horizontal piece.

Kind of like this guy did in this video:

I purposely get trucks with the "standard" bed that is 6.5 feet long. With a super cab it is not a problem but in 2022 all I could find was a super crew cab truck and getting into a parking space is a royal pain even when I park at the rear of the lots.

Most bed extenders are no strong enough to support a load of lumber. They are ok for putting kayaks in the bed but that is all that they should be expected to handle.

Cant park it anywhere, but it sure has a nice ride that only a longbed can offer.
Bah.

Try a 1960 Cadillac Fleetwood. If a blimp has too much road feel for you, it's the way to go . . .

[and why can't I find *that* as a ride setting on anything else? ? ]

But . . . but . . . how will I open my beer?

Same here, almost. The washer didn't take an hour, but the dishwasher and dining room table had to date for the extra stuff trash day.

And then there were the small desks real early in covid; I'm almost surprised that I made it to the street with them!

I fully grasp this comment.
Drove full size Chrysler products thru high school and well into the 80s. Junior year it was a 60 New Yorker. Probably the root cause of my disdain for for bumps, road noise, or windroar.
My aunt drove a ‘64 Fleetwood for years (and years). Softer than a cloud.

No so much a couch, or a cloud, but lounging on a couch resting on a moving cloud . . . and then gm spoiled it all by discovering that ground-thingie . . .
