Shocked at the price increase!

So my 2021 platinum that retailed for $69500 is now $76,000 without heated steering wheel and active motion seats . That's a $ 6500 increase. Lots more money for less content. Wow.

I just ran my configuration. In 2022 it priced out at $67,065, the 2023 model with the same specs comes to $71,975. That's a $4,910 increase, or 7.3% increase. With inflation at 8.2% over last year, it looks like Ford is lowering the cost of my Lariat.

I got pretty lucky when I bought my 2021 Lariat back in March of '21, MSRP $65k out the door $58K. Today that same truck would be around $71K without any discounts available.

The worst part is I keep getting email, text and mail from dealerships letting me know they have an "amazing" trade-in offer of $30K for my 2021 F150 Lariat with 20k miles. Dealerships are trash, even if you can find a truck they jack the price up even more at the same time try to lowball their existing customers.

Haha.....when I was shopping around early this year, that would be $50k+ all day....
Yes, Dealers, a lot of them are trash.

My 502A was $64500 MSRP in Dec 2021. Same truck now is $72xxx with the exact build. Definitely insane. I am keeping mine for a loooooooong time. Hopefully pass it down to my son in 15 years when he graduates high school.

Prices are not going back down. That’s not how inflation works. The increase in prices for most things is permanent (except for some volatile items like oil). That’s for MSRP anyway. On cars, discounting from MSRP will return to offset some of the increases, but certainly not all (and MSRPs are not going down).

sadly this is the new norm. it sucks but others have mentioned inflation is affecting prices on everything across the board.

just for stats sake, my early 22 build 502A SC 4x4 157" had a base of $56K ($75k w/ options) now has a base of $62k but $81K with the same options as a 23!!!

What I have been hearing from people more familiar with the industry than myself is manufacturers plan to combat reduced demand by offering interest rates well below what you can get elsewhere rather than deep discounts on MSRP.

Just to buck the trend a bit...

For me the 23 was cheaper than the 'My Build' price of a 22 because they had a discount for 23 orders.

FMC repurchased my 2022 Lariat and I asked for a replacement just like my 2022. I was told I could no longer get a 2022 and would have to order a 2023. FMC bought back my 2022 at $67,178 which is what I paid for it. The replacement 2023 was going to cost $75,715.50. FMC gave me a voucher worth $1,500 so, for me, just to replace my 2022 Lariat, I was going to have to pay$7,037.50. I just could not bring myself to pay that much money just to replace the vehicle that gave me so much grief.

So I ordered a 2022 F150 Lariat back in November of 2021. I took delivery of it in January of 2022 and the MSRP was $62,995. I’m in a situation where I have stipulations by my work vehicle plan that requires me to trade every couple of years. I was just curious so I built a truck on Fords website of the same trim level and as closely optioned as I could get to the one I have and the MSRP was over $71,000 now. That is just utterly ridiculous! I enjoy my truck and have owned a bunch of cords over the years but I’m thinking I’ll have to go to something else next time. Anyone else is the same boat?

It is worse with the any Electric F150s, or other brands too.

A Ford Lightning Lariat is $90,000. If you think $71,000 is crazy, how about $90,000.

Buyers are going to be looking hard at alternatives. Do you NEED that panoramic sunroof (that will eventually leak)? Do you NEED that Monsoon Package for $6300 dollars?

A decent, quality pickup for $50,000 is apparently long gone.....
