Nope, 21 year old girl in a Subaru speeding up the fast lane in bumper-to-bumper traffic cut between two drivers in the slow lane nearly hitting them and slammed into me in the right turn lane. She was blocked from my view by the school bus. She told the state trooper "she was late for work".

Just another day in Wilmington, NC. On the bright side, I was thinking about trading for a Raptor...

What's the consensus on "Diminished Value" amount to ask for?

At $3,500.00 not much maybe $500.00, the bigger the hit. the bigger the Diminished Value is. When I had that woman pull out in front of me back in 2019 the final bill was $25,000.00, if my memory serves me correctly I think I got $9,300.00, the Insurance company offered $3,000.00 and wouldn't move, we came up with the $9,300.00 when we all arrived at the Court House 2 years later, I told the idiots I will take this right to trial. We went to court ordered mediation twice with no luck they were stuck on $3,000.00 I was stuck on $10,000.00 with my evidence, we settled out of court, I got my costs and was happy.

Yes, but watch that, the bodyshop will have a tape line there, the guy that buys my old trucks that have tuo-tone paint feel that line all the way around the truck, if they feel an edge they know it's been repaired then they want $30,000.00 off because they say the truck has been in a grand slam when Intact it was a $3,500.00 bump or a deer hit that's common around here.

Post repairs….. make sure you find the very best bodyshop in your area and try to enforce all ford parts with insurance. If a door got damaged do not accept door skins!

What's the consensus on "Diminished Value" amount to ask for?

FIL had an incident with his '22 Toyota truck. Needed one bedside, tailgate, bumper and taillight. Total repair was just over $4000. When we sold it this year to Carvana one of their questions was has the vehicle been in an accident, was it repaired, and how much was the repair.

Their offer was only about $2000 less than what Dad paid for it 3 years earlier, I suppose because it had less than 5,000 miles on it and new ones cost more. We could hardly believe the offer was that high and the whole transaction went smooth as pie.

When I originally submitted the info for a quote, I did not disclose the accident/repair. A month or two later when I was actually ready to sell it I was honest and included full disclosure. Their offer actually went UP, apparently due to market changes.

At least in our case, a $4XXX repair seemingly made no difference to the vehicles value.
