Ugh, I was afraid of that, and sadly, somewhat relieved. Thanks, Hamma. If this is what I can expect on any other F150, like the keypad, it's take it or leave it, Geez. I love the truck, I guess I'll need to keep my eyes above the running boards. No joke, when I look under my wife's car, it's a thing of beauty and it's a year old. These pics make me think the parts sat outside on pallets for a year or more before being installed.

Maybe I should change my plate to WALLE

I remember doing videos on this when I bought a 2021 F-150 Powerboost. The responses were a mixture of "hey dumbass all Ford's have rust" to "holy crap that's awful."
This one's over the top though. Even the silver bolts on the running boards are rusty already. Unacceptable on a new 85k truck. This thing was salted for sure before it ever arrived at the dealership. Fine for folks that live up north and drive salted roads but inland FL where I live, no thanks!

And when you put it together, we get "hey Ford, you're a dumbass, this crap is awful"

My 2023's rust was mainly on the rear differential. Sprayed it with Woolwax last fall - can't see it anymore!

Also, Tim - I appreciate your videos. They were very informative when I was considering purchasing this truck versus a new Tundra.

definitely something wrong here and I waited to reply here until I had a chance to inspect my truck. Mine doesn't have that much rust and it hasn't been rust proofed and I am in Toronto/Canada with extended winter season and roads salted around the clock.

I will stand corrected as it looks like there is some rust but remember that this is nearly a two year old rig which has never been rust proofed. It is still nothing close to the amount surface rust OP has shown.

I’m going to lower the truck so I can’t look at it
Before you do that, spray it with some yellow expanding insulation foam too! :poop:

Rust had to be there when it was built
My 22 has none of that the rotors haven’t rusted yet
On new Tacomas and Subarus the rotors are rusted new on lots
I know cast iron tends to rust but not that quickly
That metal must have come from the suppliers of the 96-2000 Tacoma’s frames??

Well, here's the final outcome. When I took the truck back to the dealer, they wanted to work with Ford on the rust issues. After about a week, the dealer told me Ford had declined to take the truck back but the dealer said they would take it back with the hope of getting Ford to change their mind and locating me another truck. The truck had never been titled and my check had never been cashed. I made sure to request this at the time of return. I'm feeling beyond happy, blessed, lucky the dealer did the right thing. I'm looking forward to getting another Platinum soon enough with this dealer or another, whatever it takes. I'll be damn sure to do a thorough underbody inspection this time around. I know there's lots of threads about these issues but this one was completely over the top and obvious salt damage beyond the usual rusty axle. Hopefully, this inspires others to give a thorough underbody inspection and avoid the issues I've had to deal with. Major stress for that week of not knowing!! All good now though!!
