The factory remote start is configurable on climate settings. Range w/ fob is sufficient. Around 300' assuming nothing is raising the noise floor on the transmitter's frequency. W/ app it's unlimited range due to data connectivity.

I'd love to be able to put factory installed but only thing I see on that is I'd get another fob to carry around. I don't want 2 . Lol. I'd like one fob with everything on it.

Not sure why you'd need 2 fobs, they're less than $20 and you can take them apart and mix/match the internals. You can also look at moving to push button start if you don't have it (search threads on it)

Retired and not looking. I am driving the wife crazy.
That key fob is the only Ford way to go, which means the extra key fob. The good news is that it was plug and play in my 2014 XLT. Harnesses were all there.

I have a shop that does remote starts. We have Purchased upgraded Ford remotes (With the start feature) and reprogrammed Ford Modules to accept new upgraded remote. We are in NW, Pa.
If you find a smart dealer, I would think they could help you.
We havent done a 14gen yet but I dont think it would be a problem. The video above is a 13 gen truck
Also, you would be able to go into setting in your truck and use RS options like:
-CLIMATE CONTROL (automatic) I use that
- LAST SETTING

I live in a very small town in Louisiana. There's noone around here that I would even trust if they did do something like that. But good to know I can look into it doing myself or something.

As a 25yr. business installing remote starters for all manufacturers.... any aftermarket product for the Fords uses the Ford computers built-in remote start option vs. using its own software to control how the trucks operate. So whatever the Ford trucks menu setting is last set for is what any aftermarket remote start is going to do. Our systems basically connect to power, ground, and 2 databus wires....same as using the oem remote. The only advantage our remotes have is longer range.

I believe I read the start x uses last set. Maybe I'm mistaken I'll have to research again

I'm not sure of it matters... but I always crank up my heat and fan BEFORE I shut my truck off at the end of the day for this very reason.

Since my truck is always toasty warm when I get into it in the morning, I've never bothered to check if it "matters".

Thats true. Maybe I'm looking to much into this and should realize it really doesn't matter. Lol. I tend to do these things sometimes

Curious what you end up using. My mom has only the app for her Ecosport and it frequently will have issues then she can't remote start. That start-x thing looks interesting.

And that’s the limitation. We can’t adjust for changing weather conditions. A module limitation or something. Do other manufacturers allow for that?

I only have the app now as well. Surprisingly it works pretty well for me. It's just a hassle to open app and all when I'm walking up to the truck to put kids and whatever else in so I can have ac or heat for kids.
If I do pull the trigger it'll probably be start x
