I'd like to purchase a professional mechanic grade torque wrench to torque wheel nuts properly after doing tire rotations at home. I believe in buying good quality tools that last, "buy once cry once", doesn't have to be the very best with all the gizmos (for example, doesn't have to be digital), looking for a proven good quality long lasting torque wrench at a good value. The owner's manual for my 2022 Powerboost says tighten wheel nuts to 150 lb.ft (204 Nm), so I think I would want a wrench where the maximum setting was higher than 150 ib.ft to have a little margin. I have an old Craftsman torque wrench but that's the highest setting (150 ib.ft) and I'm not sure I trust it anymore.

Any recommendations on good quality/value torque wrench manufacturer/model to look at, and where to buy? Thanks.

Do you really need a “professional” grade torque wrench? Probably way over kill. Most 1/2” drive wrench’s go up to 250

For wheels, just grab a new (unabused) clicker that goes up to 250ftlb and you'll be good; HF is a good option, as suggested.

I have the same Precision Instruments split beam linked above, and a 3/8" model, that I use for most other projects. I still usually just pull out the old clicker for wheels in case it gets kicked around.

Thanks SALEEN961 and Moe7, I went to Precision Instruments web site and checked out/watched videos on the PREC3FR250F, I have four vehicles to maintain and this torque wrench looks like it will work great for me and not too much money so I pulled the trigger on the amazon link, thanks again for the replies!

Pawn shops and ebay are always great for torque wrenches. I buy em used and get them re-calibrated by a local place for $50. Precision Instruments and Proto are my go-to brands.

On an aside, PI torque wrenches are real nice. They are even fine to be put away at high settings unlike the twist handle ones.

PI unit looks just like my icon split beam. Split beams are great as you don't have to zero them out. OP didn't spec his original craftsman, but it may be worth just calibrating and keeping.

A good digital torque adapter is another option, use it to calibrate your wrenches or as a torque wrench.

I've had this Amazon $30 10-150' bad boy for almost four years. Looks identical to the Harbor Freight one other than the handle color. They do have one that goes up to 250', but I've never pulled the trigger to add it to the garage, even at $55.

HF is running a 15% off any single item Presidents’ Day sale, not as cheap as the sale has been on the Quinn Torque wrenches, but would bring the 1/2” Quinn to $68 before taxes.

They have cheaper and more expensive ones the 15% off would work on, plus side is the warranty, imho, no digs at the Amazon ones, but I know HF won’t give me trouble if I try to warranty it.
