Issue came back today. Confirmed the shifter will not fold down when DTC is active. Also verified the code as P0929. Guess I’ll call the dealer tomorrow.

Dropped the truck off yesterday. New shifter was the diagnosis. They said they are on national back order as mentioned earlier. Dealer called back and said one is being shipped from another dealer and should be in tomorrow. I hope i get it back tomorrow and the loaner is a ford escape. For a sub 30k vehicle though, it’s a nice little suv.

Got my truck back today. I had no idea how much slop was in my console shifter until i felt the new one.

That's good to hear. I might need to look into this with a higher priority now.

I just had this issue pop up for the first time the other day although the wrench was only present for that day and hasn't come back. My brother is a Ford tech and confirmed it was the GSM code and sent me the TSB. I haven't had any physical issues with the shifter yet other than the slop.

Have had the same issue. Took it in a few weeks ago and they said if it happened again, they would need to replace shifter. Of course not long after that, got the symbol and message on FordPass again. Took a 2 week wait to get the truck back in (last Friday). Well, that time they said it was due to losing signal on over the air updates, which made the battery lose some power??? Picked up the truck Monday and wrench symbol popped up yesterday and of course another message. Took it back to the dealer.
They called and ordered new shifter. Won't get it before we leave for vacation. Tech said it should be fine to drive until they get it. Hope so, since we'll be gone for 2-3 weeks driving through several northwestern and western states

Same error here on a 2024 XLT. The first time it happened at 4800 miles also had a vehicle can not shift error and the shifter was stuck in drive. At the first full stop the truck turned on the pathing brake, I was stuck and had to be towed. Dealer flashed the shift module. Second time at 5200 miles I got the error from the first post only and was able to keep driving. It’s currently at the dealer again diagnosed with a shifter replacement needed, part is on order.

My 2024 F150 Raptor just had the shifter replaced at the Dealer, received the Powertrain Malfunction message 3 or 4 times before taking in to be serviced, also had one time where the shifter would not go down when pressing the button, worked the following day. Pick up the truck tomorrow

As it works out I got the wrench light again the other day so I took it to the dealer yesterday to start the warranty process. They told me the GSM is on backorder and should arrive next week.

Interesting. Is this the easy tell? By that, I wonder if the combo of shifter not folding and service soon light always points to those codes.

I've had the powertrain malfunction (wrench) indicator illuminate and then go off on its own a couple dozen times. No indication that there is any issues with the powertrain. I stopped by the dealership today to talk with parts and service. They had two GSM in stock but slated for warranty repair. The GSM is on backorder with no estimated availability and the part number had a code indicating that Ford is looking for a second manufacturing source. They said there were modules enroute to Ford's parts distribution centers but likely to be used to immediately fill backorder to dealers. They could not order a part for me in advance with any priority unless the request came from the service department for a warranty repair. If I left my truck for diagnostics to confirm the GSM was the issue, it was a 3-day wait to be worked on. I told the service rep I could leave my truck for that amount of time in a couple of weeks.

Next time it happens get a pic of the dash light. Then plug up forscan and get a screenshot of the code. Diagnosis done for them. Get your shifter. Or that’s what I did. Your mileage may vary.
